The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part - movie review by JohnStripedfur

When the first one came out, I admit I was one of the people that blew it off because I honestly don't think that a movie about legos will be anything but a little kids movie. But then I saw it and I was surprised on how good it was. It was cleverly written, the characters were good, great humor, and has a nice subtle theme. So, when they announce a sequel, I was already on board because I want to see how they'll take the concept into the next one and see where it goes.

The sequel is alright. It's not better than the first one, but it's not worse either. It's right down in the middle, which is a good thing because this is a worthy follow up to The Lego Movie. The humor is still there and so is the characters. The new ones are all pretty great as well. The difference between the two is that the first one has a surprising subtle message and theme while the second one pretty much hits you on the head with a hammer on what the message and theme will be and it started in the first five minutes. Half way to the end, I was already like, "Enough already, I get it!" But, the characters, the story, and the humor kept me in the movie throughout. And I think that plays it's strengths with the reference and subtle humor that the Lego movies should have.

Overall, a worthy follow up to the first one. If you love the first one, you will like the second one just as much.
