Oh bugger it all... by redregon

So, a bit of a vent... This is about the Game development i've been doing.

So, the animation system i had to translate the animations to work in the game were a bit of a hatchet job... it worked, barely... but i was never quite satisfied.

Now, cut forward a couple months from there and the Unity 3D people came out with a system called Mecanim. It's apparently a new system to help with the animations to make setting up characters easier. I will admit that i've been putting it off and putting it off because i had this little nittering fear in my head that if i decided to use this system, i'd have to go back quite a few steps. seems that fear was right. the rigs i had made to use the previous systems are so completely unfriendly to this new system that i essentially have to re-animate the characters.

That said, Mecanim should give me the option of cutting a lot of corners in that area... as in, if the rigs are set up right and communicate with it well enough, it is advertised (and proven) to let you just use the animations on different characters... so, that means that the amount of animation that needs to be done is far, far less than previous (and that was a lot of work to begin with... so, this should shave that down significantly.)

So, i guess whenever there is an obstacle, there is also an opportunity.

This means that if i can do this well enough, i might also have spots open for animators on the team.

I've contacted some of my network that i've built up to see about adding to the pipeline and i do have some available finances to assist with all of this so i'm not begging... i do have some flex in the purse-strings to be able to do this. So, to reiterate, this isn't me begging.

What i need: A demo reel. I need to see that you're capable

    That all being said, I am also able to do animation... so, you won't be the only person doing all of them. i'm not the best there is but what i can do is decent enough for what i need. It's just that it's time-consuming and i'm getting to the point where time is of the essence.
