Someone who had replied in my previous journals (in fact, the only person remaining) with encouragement did a complete 180 and just replied "suck it up" in the last day. (and that was the polite interpretation. It was way worse in reality.)

He abandoned all concept of being polite, he went on the offensive to attack me for causing him pain... Warning him about not causing others pain through tough love, he ignored it completely and tried to stifle the evidence.

I'm sorry, but going from words of encouragement to tough love is more than enough to make someone actually think about committing suicide. If I was in a worser position, you would have been responsible for a death.

This is a warning that if you are incapable of politely telling someone about words of encouragement and empathy, and then you resort to abuse and tough love, this can more than likely trigger someone to do what you're trying to prevent.
