Report of S7 Simulation Chances by FHL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SIMULATION CHANGES FOR SEASON 7

WORLDWIDE, JULY 26TH - As the EXP Spending Season continues, the Commission thought it would be best to report on changes to the simulation for the upcoming season so GMs and Players are able to adjust as needed.

For Season 7, there are three major changes that will be occuring; A Penalty and Injury Event Overhaul, an Expansion of Penalty Numbers, and a change to Goalie Ratings. The changes are explained below.

PENALTY AND INJURY EVENT OVERHAUL

The Penalty and Injury Overhaul is a change to how Penalty and Injury Events occur when it comes to rolls.

In looking at this, the Commissioners realized that basing it on a successful shot has been leading to uneven chances of players getting penalty and injury results. Players with higher shooting percentages (i.e. Centers, Wingers) currently have a higher chance of an event occurring off a successful shot than players with lower shooting percentages (typically defencement).

To correct this, we are moving the chance of Injury and Penalty to the Shot/First Roll with a second Threshold roll made to check if the Injury/Penalty actually occurred. In testing it, the single roll on it’s own lead to too high a frequency of events.

We expect this will lead to a more even chance of penalties and injuries among players, and hopefully fix the issue.

EXPANSION OF PENALTY NUMBERS

In looking at the disciplines of players in the league, and in a belief that the current frequence of penalties is lower than it should be, we are changing the scale at which determines penalty chance numbers are determined from a players discipline. The new scale for Penalty Numbers is below:

Disipline
Penalty Number

Less than 41
90

41-41.9
91

42-42.9
92

43-43.9
93

44-44.9
94

45-45.9
95

46-46.9
96

47-47.9
97

48-48.9
98

49-49.9
99

50 or higher
100

This, with the penalty changes, should lead to an increased frequency of penalties, but hopefully to closer to the level of RL leagues such as the NHL.

CHANGE TO GOALIE RATINGS

In looking over Goalie Numbers over the past two seasons, and with having some concerns about the Floor of Goalie Ratings, the Commission have decided to adjust the Equations for the Calculated save stats.

The changes are as follows:

Goalie Save Ratings are now Adjusted on a 8.8 divisor (up from 6.8).
These stats are now added at a .9 Ratio to the original 6 Stat setup:
Butterfly: VIS, DL, COM
Hybrid: PC, VIS, COM
Stand-Up: PC, DL, VIS

In testing, this lead to most entry level goalies averaging a more favorable 86-86.5 average, while only causing minor buffs or nerfs to high level goalies.

For anyone who wishes to test the numbers, the Stat Calculator will be adjusted once this journal has been posted.

Questions, comments, and concerns can be submitted below or directly PMed to the league. We will try to answer them as soon as we can.
