Retiring a lot of characters by FeyPhoenix

I had been considering selling some characters, due to lack of love/time/interest, but it just doesn't feel right to sell them. Some of them especially because I have art of them with other people.

I have a few that I could give away, based on lack of the aforementioned, but I think it feels disingenuous to do so when the character still technically exists within one of my universes.

I guess what it boils down to is that I love the character creation process, and creating a background and history for them... But not every single character in every single universe needs so much time and effort put into them. Many of the characters I do have, but have no art of, are secondary characters to secondary characters, so it's like I've given the backstory and entire history of a character that you literally just see behind the counter at the store, who says "hello" to the main cast and is then never seen again lol.

Anyway, yeah. Over the last year or so, I decided that getting art for all of these characters is counter productive and too sad. So I'm going to leave them up, but just focus on a few main characters, rather than spread myself so thin all the time.

For those of you wondering what I'm even talking about, just take a gander at my character gallery here, featuring about sixty of my hundreds of characters.

Also, for anyone interested, I have reactivated my old FA account, FeyPhoenix.

    Oh boy, I know that feeling. It's better to hold on to hem just in case you get the urge to go back to them, it can be fun!

      Yeah, that was something I considered as well. I don't think I'm cut out to be one of those people that has a bajillion images of one character and a few here and there of others haha.

        I Always feel guilty when I accidentally do that, I tend to not know what to do when I do that, and I'll feel bad for neglecting my characters...LOL! I try and give them all a sort of cycle, though. It's this weird "I gotta be in this mood to draw them" kinda deal. UNLESS I designed them in a way that makes them a bit annoying to draw, then I just cry whenever I draw them.

          Haha, if I ever get around to learning to art properly (or at least better) I'd spend a lot of time drawing tons of things that are always quick, flash in the pan ideas for my characters and move on... Probably. As it stands, I usually commission stuff, and then by the time the commission is done, that mood I was in shifted, and the commission doesn't quite have the impact I was looking for. Not that I have ever been disappointed in a commission that ends up like that, just more of a "oh yeah, I was totally feeling this when I commissioned it... Cool."

    Finding stuff to do with them is like.. role play? Commissions? Inspiration? Writing? It all takes a lot of involvement. I feel you on the “why so many and no use” vibe. But I dint have a hundred!

      Yeah, I have way too many ^^;
