Solo: A Star Wars Story - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I know I'm a weekend late doing this. I was busy during Memorial Day weekend. But, went to see it just now. Before I get to the review, let me put in some thoughts I had about this movie. I know for a fact that no one was asking for a Han Solo movie. Not even the extreme die hard Star Wars fans. When I heard the announcement some time ago, I was like, "Really?" But, I put my opinions aside and judge this movie by itself.

And after watching it. I have to say that there's a reason why there shouldn't be a Han Solo movie. Not that it was bad. It was quite decent. It just wasn't good. Like blow me away good. It did had some good action scenes and some good funny scenes, but the whole templet feels a bit off. You can tell a director came up and change many of the scenes as the movie progressed. Much like other movies in the past couple years. I know Ron Howard did the best he could with what he had, but I really don't believe the Lorde and Miller version would fair better either. I can see some of the typical Lorde and Miller jokes remain in this movie and I can tell from that it would've been more of a comedy movie than a action movie. Almost parody like. Much like what Thor: Ragnarok was. Though, there were a few surprises in this movie that made me smile and wonder what they'll do with that one big one. Who knows. But, let's see how this movie will fair later on. Although, from what I've seen, I don't think Solo would do much better later on in the summer. There were like 10 people in the entire theater where Solo was shown. An IMAX one at that. So, not good.

Overall, it was a decent action movie set in Star Wars. It was fun, but there's a reason why no one asked for a Han Solo movie. Let's hope they'll do better once the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie goes underway.
