Why weasyl isnt big by Hipster Hystrix

Took me a while to figure it all out from the frost but I know finally know why Weasyl isn't a successful website full of life compared to the malignant tumors FA and IB are.

Weasyl doesn't cater to the echo chamber and "me me me" mind set those other sites and their forums breed and continue to breed like a puppy mill. In fact weasyl seems less a leftist cult then any furry fandom site so far. Because of that, hate groups don't tend to flock here, people don't tend to upload because of how dry this site is it and that it doesn't reinforce what sickly though genre personality people have.

On here you have to work, gamble and reach out ot people at square zero and I think that's kind of important because it slightly deters all these simple minded retards from the system. They have to start new, their fan ban doesn't want to deal with a slow ice age steady thawing site that's mainly more stable and logical. Perhaps its a threat to them....

I've been called many a things on the other sites for not believing and calmly disagreeing with other peoples viewpoints but the whole slander game and cringe is not only dangerous but vile. I've been called a nazi, racist and a troll despite the fact I'm a gay poc male. The system of popufurs also dives into the echo chamber mentality, when I give criticism on someones artworks, big shots tend to come off screaming upset and offended as if they are the coachella CEO and the rule maker on reality.

On here its different, there's conversation, basis and questions asked then screaming rage. There was a lot of screaming rage in the past for the younger minds if not the new comers or mentally ill. I think because the furry fandom is so accepting it has allowed pedophiles, criminals, drug addicts and destructive furries into its mix and protects them as long as they enjoy the fandom. Such a communist society don't you think? Many of those things listed I have personal encounters with it all.

Furries would even accept rape and genocide if given the chance. So many already are huge fans of incest, genital cutting, Antifa and anti first amendments. ITs social media again all over in some regards. Sadly weasly isn't fully immune, because its an open art website online it allows even non anthro artwork. Over the past few months to years a lot of bad, fetish based artwork of non fandom content had been flooding the site. Thankfully most of it has died down due to them realizing how not active weasly is.

In all I'd rather have a website like this with a slow metabolism then any big shot social media site that's already at stage 5 cancer.

I wish the site WAS more active. It desperately needs more activity, but it just isn't there. I also noticed that staff has shrunk again. I feel one of the issues with the site is the lack of staff interaction with the community as a whole. As much as I dislike FA and IB, I do see regular staff interaction with users. I see more attempts to reach out to the userbase as a whole, and I've seen an improvement in the ticket system as far as FA goes. I've had one ticket open here for over a year now, and others encroaching upon a year (but I think some of that is due to the small staff). I know how it goes, as I used to be on the staff (but I no longer have time for that as i work over 40hrs/wk). A drive to bring in new mods and admins would be beneficial to the site, as well as designating someone to consistently interact with the userbase as a whole...encourage staff to interact a little more and just make their presence known. More needs to be done to engage the community and encourage activity.

I actually quite like how quiet it is here.
Did not enjoy blowing up on Instagram, or dA, and gathering followers, mostly due to a lot of younger kids that started to follow me, and I don't post the most kid friendly shit, since it was an account made to just blow off steam, and to throw my thoughts out there, not expecting replies, just cause I felt better to get those things off my chest in such a manner. I just posted what I wanted, and people just seemed to have liked that, but then I start getting that feeling, as if there's an obligation to withhold things, like feelings, and opinions anywhere I gathered a bunch of people, so then I'd usually leave, post next to nothing, or stop featuring art/doodles, and hope that people would die down, or leave.
Now I just post whatever, whenever, and no one seems to bat an eye.
Tried FA, didn't like their outdated UI, the unsettling amount of rather hateful/creepy groups, people that bash on you for the slightest criticism, or discussions, and upload quality wasn't the best, certainly not a fan of things being heavily compressed, plus the things you've mentioned. I'm not fond of the communities there, and all the drama that stirs under that superficial surface. People here ain't afraid of being themselves, no major drama, just a warehouse of art, and chill folks all drifting along~
Also the UI is delightful, and they don't advertise {bonus}.
Everyone is on equal terms on starting out here, and I like that. c:

Huh Really? Most people in the fandom want to blow up like spicy cotton candy, strong strong burning radioactive soda or pulled pork, its kind of a toxic pipe dream but as of now really all I want is peace, flow and steady stream of things here.

Your stuff never occurred to me it was mostly steam and thought force fields exercising out, always felt guided and solidly made. Mostly on other social sites I blew up into something bigger then I was when all people wanted was someone who acted like them , feed then what they wanted and really was very hard to be myself or say what I wanted to say. End of the story was I deleted all my social media/da/ other art site accounts because of how toxic and anti art everything became.

You are wise to have left FA, because its legit worse, everything is very....extremist there. Its all about the money, the porn, the political views, the new genders or stolen artwork people are calling their own. Ignorance is a growing thorn for the most part. But weasyl is stable because I really haven't had any bad storm on here, and despite it being slow I don't have to wake up fearing is some crazy swj or antifa pedophile thug slanders and leaves hateful messages all over my page. Most comments are 50/50 now of russian roulette.

I guess in the end peace wins over the rush of traffic, the quality of things on better on here but sadly I feel there could be a bit more people.

Due to the nature of this site, it will probably grow larger over time. I feel bad that it doesn't get the recognition it honestly deserves for being a rather healthy art community. There tends to be so much filth, and sludge floating in the seas of FA, and most popular social media outlets, and it's really sad.
I've managed to find a little pocket of well behaved beings on Instagram luckily, and really only had one person bitch at me for saying an opinion, but I've seen how nasty people can be on there through other larger/popular accounts, and I'm always unsure on how they've attracted such a crowd, and how I've managed to avoid it. Although I'm guessing it has a lot with what you mentioned, with how people are attracted to those that think similarly, and feed them what they wanted.

All in all, I'm just glad this site existed, I actually spent I think three days looking for a better art hosting site after I got frustrated with FA, Tumblr, dA, and the like. Just wanted something without the fuss, and was quality based on the fact that it's run by folks that care. I swear dA is ran like some mob business, FA gives zero fucks and let things become rampant, Tumblr has way too many sjw's, making things that weren't issues their issue, and drama to really ever be good as an art hosting site, plus navigating that site to search for specific things is very annoying, and Instagram.. it's noisy, drama, lots of ad's now, and didn't like the amount of attention at the time, especially the comments asking me on how to get more followers... Like I don't know, it just happened, and I was just being me, and if that's all your focused on instead of just being you, and doing what you like, then I feel bad for ya, mates. Those are the people that will end up being pushed around, and not be true to themselves, and indulge in such poisons.

Follow counts shouldn't be a young artists priority, and after a few comments like that I decided to make a post declaring my view on such matters clear, and I must've worded it right, cause they just nodded their heads, and stopped askin'.
