Need help with new computer recommendations!! by neonpossum

Hey everyone! I need some help ;;

My PC is finally starting to die due to hard drive errors and I need to start looking for a new one. I think maybe it can be fixed, but to be honest it doesn't have a HDMI port and I primarily work on a cintiq so that's kinda a problem! I've been having to use a laptop for my cintiq and the PC seperate for references etc, but I'd really love if I could just have a PC that could handle everything tbh!

I'm okay with computers but not too savvy, so I'd really appriciate some guidance ;; Basically, I need a computer that can handle:

  • Sai and other art programs like Clip Studio Paint
  • Photoshop (latest versions)
  • Illustrator (latest versions)

It must have a HDMI port, and I'd love to be able to actually play games on it too (nothing too huge, mainly just Steam games!)
It must be upgradable (my current PC is an all-in-one and it's not >< )

Sooo yeah ;; I'd kinda love to know what other artists use for their work! I'm in the UK too, so links would be good! I'm pretty broke right now so it'd be a matter of saving up, but yes!

Thanks guys!! <3

    What do you have atm?

    If you are using a built into the motherboard graphics card then it's most likely that you have a free 16x pci-e slot and can get a decent graphic card with HDMI ports for relatively low cost.

    A hard drive isn't all that difficult to change out which is most often done by cloning to the new drive. I would look at western digital or crucial for HDs and SSDs.

      At the moment I have a Lenovo all-in-one from 2012! I can't upgrade the graphics card on it sadly, and currently my housemate is trying to replace the harddrive as the old one is completely messed up ahhh ;;

    What kind of budget do you have for it? That's generally the biggest thing in looking for recommendations. A relatively inexpensive tower PC is likely to check the boxes (except for possibly being able to play particularly taxing games), but knowing how much you're willing to pay can help prioritize some things over others.

      I'm thinking anything under £1000! I'm hoping to find one that can deal with 3D graphics at least, as I'd like to start using Maya again for modelling and such ;;
