Yeah I know. Surprise surprise. There's like tens of thousands of movies Hollywood has made in the last 90 years they've been around. So, it's hard for me to keep up and watch them all with not just time, but also money.

Anyways, heard The Dark Crystal was being played for a few select days at a theater and decide to go see it for the first time. Been hearing it's a cult classic and it's one of the most favorites from any Henson fan. Though, my theater experience watching the movie wasn't all that great since I keep hearing snickering and chuckling throughout the film. Either it's their first time viewing the movie as well or they had seen it and just want to make fun of it.

Well, the movie itself. Is quite good. The puppetry was top notch back then. Even though seems cheesy today. The story, scenery, and characters were all pretty original and you can tell they put in their heart and soul in this movie and it shows. I can see why it gained a fandom throughout all these years. Though, I can see why it didn't do so well when it first came out. The execution wasn't very well throughout. You can tell they put in last minute changes to make it passable for the general audience. I do like world and the origins they created. Very original. But, the execution done by puppetry is a bit silly. Maybe if they used CGI today and not use much of the dialogue in there it could be an all out fantasy classic.

Overall, it's a movie to watch just to see what Henson had created. Or if you're a huge fan of Henson and Labyrinth, you will love this movie.
