General Life/Game Update by redregon

So, a couple of you know i'm making a game... a couple of you know i'm also making tutorial videos... and even still, a couple know that i've also got a web-store online of sorts where i'm selling packages for use in Unity3d to give people a kick-start for their game development.

That said, i've been getting some encouraging numbers from the sales of this asset pack. (which you can get here if you're interested: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/\#/content/7611) It itsn't enough to make a living off of but if i can keep that up and get a couple more (and assuming the traction that they get is consistent enough) then i might be able to finally wean myself into a better financial position.

All of that said, however, I do feel that i should let you know that the game development is still on going... there's a lot (and i do mean a lot) of things that need to get done. I am much closer to having a demo released and all that... and i'm on track to being able to release the demo for when i hope to release it... still, that doesn't mean i'm done or ready now... Also, to note, i've entered into a sort of agreement with a very, very talented programmer who also has a passion for games... it's not an official partnership at this point but since we're both collaborating on our own respective games, then it is essentially us working together. this is helping a lot because we've been going over many things which both of our games can benefit from... one being the whole random-dungeon generation i'm hoping for and the other being a multiplayer system set up... I want multiplayer in this game... it's just a natural fit for it... and that is the intent i went in this with... so, i've been trying very hard to ensure that i'm able to do the right things for the character controlling systems to make them multiplayer friendly... this new system should also really help because it wouldn't be transferring anything high-density across the internet conneciton, it's just sending values and textual information which the game itself then works with to assemble the game level. all of it is done client-side so that should make this game very easily done as a multiplayer game.

when it's done, then i'll be celebrating... even though the demo is only the first step in the whole thing since i have to make quite a few levels and the assets that that's going to need... but, this little addition to my income with the asset store is helping things because i might even be able to afford to pay some artists for some work (though, if that does get to that point, i'm going to be very selective based on the work the person i'm contemplating hiring can actually do the work and do it well enough within a sensible time-frame... so, if someone's saying they've done work with company X, then i will be calling them up and asking if they would welcome person Z back on their team (this afaik is the weasel phrase you can use to basically ask "is this person a good worker" because technically you can't ask that because if the answer is negative (which it sometimes is) then it can be taken and pursued in court as slanderous or libelous... so, instead of asking "is this person a good worker" you ask "would you welcome this person back on your team?" and that's an easy way to quantify their "good worker" status without actually having to ask it and open yourself up to legal issues since essentially, all you're doing is asking a person about their opinion and not specifically asking about person z.)
