ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to my content and Terms of Service. by BlueKittyTales

The time has come.

Those of you who have followed me for a long time know that very early on in my tenure, I made three characters of Nintendo's Yoshi species. They had not been used for a long time, however, and none of them were given especially insightful development. However, due to my plans of publishing stories in the future, I have decided to remove the species from my canon completely. Two of these characters, Vic and Brenda, had their species changed to a bat and a dragon respectively, and the last one, Laura, was shelved permanently. I decided to remove all of the pictures of them from my gallery and have them taken down elsewhere, as well as remove any references to them from my stories. Although I have not published yet and never made any profit from the above stated characters, I know how heavy handed Nintendo can be in these matters. I cannot run the risk, but even without all that, I feel I have no reason to have such characters, since I have not roleplayed in years. Because of the way I display Vorarephilia in my work nowadays, I feel it simply is not appropriate to include Yoshis so prominently in my canon. Looking back, I now feel that having done so was a mistake.

With that out of the way, here's my announcement.

January 2018 will demonstrate the biggest change I have made since April 2016 when I decided to go out into the world and take back the life I’d had ripped away from me in my teenage years.

I’ve made some mistakes in my time. All of us have. But from here on, I’m preparing for my future and what I expect to happen when I begin publishing stories. From here, you will see me make a series of changes in how I make my stories and present myself on and off the site.

I’ll start with something that will affect what first impression people will get of me – fetishistic and sexually explicit stories as well as some commissions I’ve bought.

The adult material I have made and commissioned, while uncommon compared to my clean materials, is a subject I won’t always mention to others. When I do bring it up, I approach it with caution and warn the person I’m talking to that they should expect to find some. While in the eyes of some, materials of this nature may be the meat and potatoes of the Furry Fandom, anyone well versed in this community knows there is a lot more than that to it as a whole. Despite my way of approaching it, in that I always make sure every such scene has a reason to exist and I flesh out the characters first, its very presence in my gallery may turn heads for the wrong reasons in certain places.

Effective as of immediately, I have decided to make any sexual literature I have made and any sexual commissions I've bought only available on FA, and I will remove it from my DA and Weasyl accounts. I’ve compiled a list of the files to be made exclusive to FA, and, including those that already were, there are 116 files that fall under this, this number being increased slightly by my decision to make two characters unavailable outside of the site. I make that about one third of the files I have ever posted, which shows how frequently I’ve involved fetishes in my work.

From here on, if your idea uses a specific sexual fetish as the main body of its plot, even if it isn’t portrayed in a sexual fashion, FA will be the only site I post it on unless in very exceptional circumstances. The artists and writers I commission and trade with are still free to post what they do for me anywhere they please, of course. The same also goes for my buyers. Pin up pieces are excluded and will stay in my DA and Weasyl galleries since these pieces, while suggestive, do not focus on any specific kink. While still the main account I’ll use for the foreseeable future, I will also block off my FA account from users who don’t have an account themselves. I believe all of this will make it a lot safer for me to show off my writing outside the site.

Next comes something I raised in my previous journal.

As you’d expect with any content maker, I reserve the right to turn down ideas for any reason, and I am not always at liberty to say why I would refuse to make them. That said, I will no longer accept paid commissions that dominantly feature intellectual property, are fan fiction (including self insertion) or which include fan characters. Many copyright holders are very heavy handed about protecting their intellectual properties (IPs for short), and I don’t want to run the risk once I start publishing novels.

However, I will still allow such ideas in art trades and I will occasionally make fan fiction or participate in events around the site, since obviously, in those circumstances I would not profit from making such projects – only art and literature would be exchanged. Bear in mind that I can still slip in things like subtle nods, cosplays or cultural references without a problem, since from what I’ve read, copyright laws decree that small things like that cannot be sued for. This clause has been included in my Terms of Service, and it will be updated again to go into more detail.

This leads on to my next point.

I currently have my Terms of Service, pricing, waiting list and commission information listed in several journals on FA, linked to on each account. Making my FA account inaccessible to people who do not have accounts there also means that these journals will no longer be viewable. So, I’ve taken a cue from an artist I’ve gone to for her wise advice on several occasions, shorty-antics-27, and decided to set up separate webpages where buyers and traders can go to view the progress on their projects, check my prices and the like. (Sorry Shorty. I know I’ve kind of stolen your idea here. ^^; ) Thanks to Bourbon., I also have a background I can use with these sites. I will be using Trello for my waiting list and Wix for everything else, and I will set up these sites once I’ve cleaned up my DeviantArt and Weasyl galleries. Beforehand, I’ll amend my Terms of Service for use on Wix.

And speaking of cleaning up, I made two more decisions, these being the only ones to affect the projects I made in the past.

The Popular Feminist Party has been changed to The United Front of Triston (referred to simply as United Front within its universe). It retains the same totalitarian and violent methods during their rule as before, but the misandrist agenda has been done away with, instead showing them ostracising and abusing species other than humans. While not based on any particular regime, they will always be portrayed as the main antagonists in the stories in which they appear. I don’t want to risk becoming a target for radical feminists – I think I’ve said enough just by the use of this term. Thus, this change was made for safety reasons, and all files that mentioned it have been altered to replace it with the new continuity. One poem had to be taken down, as it wasn’t possible to cleanly edit the PFP out of it. Looking more deeply, I think a few elements of the story make more sense with this revision.

Additionally, the names of four of my main settings are to be changed due to believing that the ones chosen were not very good. Smokestacks will be renamed Fenton, Rapa Nui Apartments will become the Marriott Tower Flats, these two being named after, but not based on, towns in my country. Topi will be changed to Carson City, a nod to the Grand Theft Auto games that have played a significant part in how I approach more gritty ideas. Borna City will change to Steinbeck after the author John Steinbeck, whose books portrayed the harsh reality of life during The Great Depression. While this was also the case with the previous names, these ones sound more natural. This will be the last change to be made, since I view the other changes in this journal as carrying a much higher level of priority than just fine tuning.

And now I close this journal with a brief list of the promises I’ve made for my writing in this new year.

  • I said I would go the distance with my writing, and this is just what I intend to do. With the changes I’ve made, endless possibilities await.
  • I’ll see if I can do more vignettes and flash fiction, since I expect ConFuzzled 2018 will run another flash fiction competition. I know where I went wrong last year, and I know what I need to do better this time.
  • On the other end of the scale, much longer and much more detailed stories, which is what I aim to do with my debut, Iridum Flowers. I may or may not make the first two or three chapters available as a free sample once the manuscript is completed, but others would only be available by purchasing the book.
  • Further development with my Triston universe, including planned changes to a few of my characters.

On this note, I shall bid you adieu. I will resume writing very soon.
