Does anyone actually use Weasyl? by FibS

It seems this site is really inactive and a lot of people are leaving it, because it's inactive, which is a very bad state to be in.

I see Weasyl as a better version of FurAffinity, which might actually be working against it since that means everyone who's on FA will just stay on FA.

Does anyone actually use Weasyl?

Sometimes is better than no times!

pretty sure its growing, not shrinking. I check several times a day and usually there are ~150 submissions total daily in my followed feed... and I only follow NSFW artists/accounts.

Furry's going mainstream and that means all furry sites and services are getting more users and traffic but yeah the rising tide doesn't lift all boats equally.

Get a crossposter plugin? I'd fave more of your pieces if you posted more frequently!

I don't use crossposters; I need the artist commentary to be tailored to each site, because I include links that need to be tailored to each site. They're also really obnoxious to authorize.

I'd be happy to keep posting to Weasyl, I just don't feel like there's much traffic here. If I knew it was viable I would probably dump FA for Weasyl's sake.

I'm active here. I posted a lot of art here than on FA. Even though I still use FA.

FA is a necessary evil for a lot of the furry art fandom, sadly.

Yeah. I have a lot of unfinished business to take care of on FA. I have a whole lot to say, but I'm waiting for the right time to do it.

I'm active here; as in I sometimes post comments and stuff.
    But I'm not very chatty.

That's okay! I wasn't expecting any replies to this journal, actually. Thanks for your input!

People leaving because the site is inactive, not realizing that their leaving only adds to the lack of activity. I'll never understand people who want alternatives to gain momentum, but are unwilling to add to that momentum themselves; they feel they have no reason to contribute to what's supposed to be a community effort to get the ball rolling.

For some reason I find it amusing that people would rather be part of this problem of "lack of alternatives", than contribute to a plausible solution. Every Weasyl journal I read along the lines of "yeah this site isn't active/dead so I'm leaving" I just chuckle at.

Then again, I ALSO use FA; I guess that makes me part of this problem too. 🤔

Unless FA suddenly vanishes permanently, which sadly is the one thing they're not inept enough to fuck up, I doubt these other sites will escape its gravity well.

Somehow I'm led to believe that FA dissapearing completely would have absolutely no impact on Weasyl's activity, haha.

That being said, I don't want to see FA dissapear either; I'd like Weasyl to gain more activity, just not at the cost of another site.

I on the other hand would quite happily lose FA for the sake of pretty much any other site!
