hey everyone what's up
Well I'm 30k into NaNoWriMo, much of which is probably not going to be part of the final whatever-it-is I come out with but will be portioned off into its own short stories, some of which I will post to Weasyl for all to see and some of which I will make use of my favourite Weasyl function, 'Friends Only', because it's just too weird for an unvetted audience. Actually that's my second-favourite Weasyl function, after not having an unknown party constantly scraping the entire site with a bot and reposting all of the submissions to their personal onion page
I do wish sometimes that Weasyl had the same level of activity as FA. It would be nice to get more foot traffic on my work. But I remind myself that whether I have 99 followers here or 315 as I did on FA, it still amounts to the same five people showing any active interest in my submissions
ooh, i hope the wrimo goes well!
i feel you on that - i was hoping folks would get really into weasyl but apparently these days twitter's the big thing other than the old garbage fire
yeah, unless FA finally topples over - I genuinely thought IMVU would buy it and end up shuttering it because god alone knows how it's making any kind of profit for them, but evidently they haven't yet - I don't suppose Weasyl is ever going to get real momentum. Even if I didn't work in such a Twitter-unfriendly artform I really couldn't imagine ever using it as my face for the world, for all kinds of reasons
If I'm ever a millionaire I'll set up my own art site with my perfect set of functions and settings, and it'll be great
Even if the the functions are perfect and everything is set for success, competing with FA is the issue. They're the largest furry art site and have been for years. People keep flocking there because of that, regardless of the fact that there have been some serious staffing issues and continue to be. I do have more people to talk to there, and there's the groups too (I realize we can have those here, but the site is sadly not nearly as active and I've yet to come across one). I have more people to talk to that love ratties as much as I do, and it's nice to have a community I feel I belong in..
I get a lot more views here than I do on FA (average about 10 per submission on FA), but that's largely due to the site having a much slower user upload rate compared to FA, which moves very quickly. I really want to have more interaction on both sites.
