A difference in my content absorption by GuzzleMuzzle

I'm at a point where I prefer to be very casual about my enjoyment of entertainment.

With video games, there are difficult ones, slightly challenging ones, and casual ones taken at a relatively slow if not consistently halted pace, and I'm liable to enjoy them all, and anything in between. That hasn't been the case in recent times. Worth noting is, I suffer from diabetes, and both blood pressure and cholesterol issues. The first is often the dealbreaker in whether I will enjoy my recreation time or not, and the latter two usually aren't so prominent a set of issues. Regardless, I'm not as fast nor keen as I've been in earlier times. I don't see my 34-year-old self encompassing the nature of my younger 20s enjoying games like the original Devil May Cry series, sans Part 2. Too much button mashing. I'm actually surprised I even had the stamina to play those games back then...

Largely, these days I mostly prefer games that can be played with only mouse input. A few weeks ago, a friend bought me Diablo 3 & its "Reaper of Souls" DLC, and I'm in love with that you can play it for hours using only the mouse. Digital card games like Hearthstone and Elder Scrolls Legends are also perfect for this. Keyboard inclusion can be nice, but I prefer as little required control as possible.

In perfect honesty, I'm honestly at odds with some forms of entertainment that have been traditional for many decades. That's not to say I don't endorse most of them, but rather that I can see my time with them rapidly coming to a close, if not simply transitioning into a less steep involvement therein. It's nice to collect amazing, oft challenging video games, but suffice to say, I am old, and am coming out of the habit of enjoying them as broadly as I once have.

I stand by the notion that young people should have great video games to play, and many challenges like to sharpen their reflexes and problem solving skills. Whatever may contribute to greatness of health, they should be a part of. It's easy to scapegoat video games as damning of ones health and faculties, but everything taken in moderation may contribute to sublime wellness.

Here's to the future of games, in spite of that I am becoming less capable of tackling them. :) <3
