Blade Runner 2049 - movie review by JohnStripedfur

Before I get to the actual movie, I need to talk about the original. I never saw the original. I know..... I always wanted to since I keep hearing it's one of the greatest science fiction movies of all time. The reason I hadn't because I keep hearing there's like three or four different versions of it. There's the original theatrical version, there's the director's cut, and then Final Cut. So, I don't know which version I should watch to get why many people revered it so. It was then advertised via amc website that it's being showing in a theater near me. It's the final cut version, but since I need to see it, I decided to go see it. And after I saw it, I was intrigued. I can see why so many people revered it now after so many years and why many didn't get it when it first came out. It's a thinking movie. I did liked it, but I don't have the urge to see it again. Unless I'm with somebody or a group that wants to watch it. I can definitely see where so many sci-fi anime got their inspirations from. Especially with the dark sci-fi futuristic tones that are dirty and gritty. Ghost in the Shell comes to mind. Need to see that one, too.

Anyways, with the sequel. I thought it was pretty good. It has the same tone as the original and this one you can follow a lot more closely. It still has those symbolisms and pretty images the original had. Worth seeing on the big screen. The story itself has a lot of twists and turns and when you think you got it all figured out, it turns out it's not. It keeps you guessing. Though, it's a movie that you'll enjoy seeing, but don't have the urge to see it again unless somebody else or a group wants to see it.

Overall, if you're a huge fan of the original Blade Runner, you'll love 2049. If you enjoyed the original or thought it's a good movie, you'll like this just as well.
