WARNING THE VIDEO IS GRAPHIC AND SHOULD BE VIEWED WITH CAUTION!

I'm one person, one lazy person, one person who compared to many others around the world is fortunate. I have shelter, I have clothing, I have food, and never within the decade I have currently lived have ever feared losing any of those. Though when I was much younger I did and was able to learn to appreciate what I have. Now as an adult who is very fortunate compared to many others I still find myself at crossroads about life. About my world, about my future in the next decade, and the future of the next generations to follow.

Within the last decade of seeing the world outside of the eyes of a child those moments of thought has spread from not only myself, my family, my friend, or people of the world, but EVERYTHING on Earth. I find myself questioning so much, almost all the time. And it hurts that I really can't do much when I want to so badly! I of course try to spread awareness but it's hard when you know so many will look away without a second thought. How can you let your voice be heard when almost everyone is deaf and willingly so?

My Husband tells me that not everyone is like that, that there are people like myself who care and try. But the fact which is hard to swallow is that people like this are few and becoming fewer. For a species such as us, with our abilities, our advancements, and so much more, we have and continue to do some pretty mess up things. Not only to animals, but to our planet, and to ourselves. As far as I remembered we only have one Earth! Tell me have we finally found an instant way to get to another planet?

Sad truth is, we know how to help our planet, we know what is harmful and what is safe. We've known for at least the last 100 years if not more. Yet again, so many turn away with a shrug “it's not hurting me” attitude. And really, it is hurting you! Look how common it is for people to eat food that's not even natural. Look at a busy intersection and watch how much chemicals come out of cars. Look at what you put ON your body as much as you put INTO your body.

I'm not saying any of this to make people feel bad, no I don't want that, that is beyond my goal in this topic. My saying this and showing this video is to spread awareness, to spread knowledge, and to make people stop and think. Not about the next video game, movie, or car to come out. Not to wonder about things that really aren't that important. But to sit and think about what is. We may live only one life, we may want to make the most of it, but what we do will effect past our lives into the lives of others who will live on after us. Why must we wait for the future generations to fix the mistakes of the past? Why not fix it now? Why not get it at the taproot with all our proud strength of the human species?

We are SO MUCH MORE than this, and can be more, and do more. I have my comforts yes, I have complained as much as the next person when things don't go as I like. But if someone literally had the power to snap their finger to make the world better, with the power of us who have it, humans, but told me I will get sick with some deadly disease and live for only 5 more months, that I will lose all my luxuries, and my comforts for it... Yeah I will hesitate, I will want to say no, for after all I am alive, and the strongest instinct in anything alive is to live. But if it's to know that my cousins, my possible future nieces and nephews, and their offspring to live in a better world, to have A WORLD to live in. To keep that world alive and well. I'll do it.

Sure this sounds like talk, and maybe you are correct and all this is is talk. After all you are only reading text that I typed, you are not in front of me and seeing my face right, my stuffed nose, my sore throat, or my hurting eyes. So instead I will try to spread awareness in something I feel is not the only but one of the many most important things we should be aware of. To change, to make better, and maybe we can get that taproot of the problems we created so that we do not leave it for the future to try and handle, because if we do, it may be already too late.

This video hit me in many ways, and in many ways I wanted to deny or assume something different. I've had to stop the video multiple times because I couldn't breathe, I couldn't see, or I felt that my stomach was going to become best friends with my toilet. I know the cruelty humans put upon animals, I have seen, heard, and even stopped such actions. None of this is new to me, none of this shocks me, but it never stops making me disgusted and want to change it. This video is not a feel good video as you have obviously noticed, this video is not meant to make you feel shitty. I do not believe that is it's goal. I believe as it says, to respect the world for we depend on it as well as because we reap what we sow. Or as we've been taught as kids, actions have consequences. This is what the actions of others leave as a consequence for our world. Let's change that, because it's in our power to do so.

Now before anyone goes off on some tangent (I know I have here.) I like meat, actually I prefer pork, and though this movie makes me wish the bacon I ate earlier wasn't in me. I know that if we can change things such as how animals are slaughtered for food, I can eat my bacon without guilt. All animals must eat to live, humans are no different, some animals die horribly in the world by other animals, so even play with their food! Trust me, I've seen a good many vids were orcas toss a live sea around. But compared to that some of things we do makes me think that's nothing, especially as food isn't the only means of cruelty we do. How we commonly slaughter animals now I feel should change, can change, and maybe will change. I know there is really no “clean death”, life shows that a lot, but we shouldn't do it as we do now just because it's cheap and convenient. Everything feels pain, everything, that's why they are alive. If we can limit the pain of anything, that should be the main goal. You don't like pain do you? I don't! So why should anyone or anything else?

I hope you spread this movie, I hope you talk about this to others, who may in turn spread it. Because the more we become aware the more we are likely to do something about it. We as humans have done so much, we have proven we have the abilities and power to do so, so let us do more for a world that is better. Because we can, we really can. This move as graphic as it is, tells the truth, but as my Husband said not everyone is like this, and I hope more and more that those who aren't become the majority and not the minority. I will still continue to eat meat, though maybe less now, and I will not hesitate to ask “how is the meat slaughtered?”. When I see someone I know wear leather I will ask if they know was made or where it came from. I have always been of the mind to fix any pet, all my pets are...well except for my two snakes, but I'm not sure that's possible for them (actually now I'm curious if it is). I'm also not afraid of getting a pet from the shelter, or from homes that can not keep them, not straight from a breeder or pet store. That's how my two puppies came into my life, I believe I actually found both from craig's list.

There are a lot we can do for our world and the creatures in it. Questioning, knowing, and acting, there is nothing wrong with that. After all, we have the ability to question, know, and act. Because I strongly believe that once we help our world, we will help ourselves. To learn to respect, and care for not just our planet, the creatures, but our own race, for we have been horrible to our own race as we have to our planet. I know this doesn't seem like much on my part, but it's better than nothing right? I end this here because I feel I'm running in circles, whatever you feel or think about that video or even if you watch it, that's your right. As it's my right to try to spread it to make a difference.

So much truth in this post. I won't view the video because I'm normal and don't like to watch graphic content, but I don't think I need to as I'm there with you in a sense. The problem is, who is going to change our situation? We're all victims of it and if we dare to open our mouths it means nothing because we're not going to be able to change a damn thing. I studied communications for 4 years and I was taught that everything is pretty much designed to manipulate our thoughts. There's no demand for something? they can make demand. It's why we have all this crap that's bad for us. But again, what can we do about it? I was asked that question years ago and I still don't know.

I apologize for taking so long at replying, as for what can we do? My only thought is "to try", as long as we try at whatever is in our ability small or big, something may happen. Even if nothing happens it's not because we sat back hoping for it, for if we did that nothing would happen. No one would hear about it, no one would be aware about, and you never known now a days the internet has made it possible for so many people to find out about so much. True that not everything online is legit, but if people get interested they search through the internet and word of mouth is a very common way things spread. To see something that sticks with you, you want to talk about, and if you spread it you may or may not help set something in motion. My limits is to spread it as much as I know through people I know who in turn will tell people they know. Some people may or may not watch it, but to know is better then to remain ignorant. I like you have no idea what could bring about change, but I hope my trying to make more people aware may help.

I think you're right in that spreading the word works. I stopped buying bottled water after hearing about the waste involved and started drinking filtered water through a reusable bobble bottle. X3 I'm not a very popular person, though, and have no weight as far as spreading the word is concerned. It takes a charismatic person to get things through to the masses. Perhaps spreading the word to charismatic people is the answer.
