Spider-Man: Homecoming - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I'm a fan off the character Spider-Man. Even though I hadn't read every single comic he's been in, but I've read enough of it to be a fan. I've also watched the 90's cartoon show and loved the Spectacular Spider-Man animated show. The Sam Raimi trilogy was great even though the third one was a bit messy and I like the Amazing Spider-Man movies even though the second one has a lot of mistakes. So, when I heard that Sony decided to let Marvel use Spider-Man in their MCU movies. I was excited because finally, Spider-Man will be handled by people who actually knows what to do with superhero characters. He was awesome in Captain America: Civil War and I know they won't let me down with the new solo Spider-Man movie.

And they hadn't. I loved it. This is the definitive Spider-Man movie and WAY better than Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 1. If there's one complaint we had with both of the Spider-Man franchises is that Toby McGuire was a great Peter Parker, but not a good Spider-Man and Andrew Garfield was a great Spider-Man, but not a good Peter Parker. And Tom Holland is pretty much the mix of the two. Not only he was a great Peter Parker, but he's also a great Spider-Man. They finally got the character right 100%. It was awesome to see the entire time to see our favorite hero tries to be a hero while dealing with issues of high school. Even though I don't agree with making Spider-Man a teenage high schooler, but it worked with this movie. It's kind of like a high school teen superhero movie. And it worked.

If I have to nitpick this flick. And it's a few. It's that I felt it's sometimes a bit too jokey at some points. I did laughed a lot when the jokes landed, but I felt they should tone it down a bit. I know that the MCU movies are light hearted, but I felt this movie has too many jokes. Not the Ghostbuster remake level of too many jokes. It didn't get annoying really fast. Also, I felt at times that this movie is not totally focused. It kind of felt like both Sony and Marvel were butting heads against each other on where the film should go in terms of storytelling. Which is to be expected, but at least in the third act, they finally come together and finished it strong.

Overall, this is the Spider-Man movie that everyone should watch. Spider-Man fans, Marvel fans, and movie fans. :)
