Birds are cool, but where's the other stuff? by Nambroth

Just a quick note, for those that have been following me over the years!

I've had a few people ask if I am ONLY painting wildlife art / birds now. The short answer is: NO! There will be more fantasy art!

The long answer is: I have some health issues, and problems with my hand(s) most directly impact my art making. Digital art has especially been hard to work at for any extended period of time. I have started teaching myself how to oil paint this year as the looser style makes it easier to cope with. In this transition time, I am painting a lot of birds / wildlife as I get a feel for things and as learning aids. I will absolutely continue making fantasy art too (dragons, gryphons, and more... oh my!) as I gain a bit more confidence in this medium over time. If you are watching for the fantasy art, I appreciate it, and I thank you very much for your patience with me as I learn the best methods for my psychical and mental well-being! In the interim, I invite you to enjoy my new oil paintings, with the promise of more fantasy critters to come.

I love your birds! And as digital, I am not a fan so just as happy you are not doing a lot of that! Hope you get better or improve health wise and that you find ways to paint how and what YOU want!

I have a lot of problems associated with my art as well. Sucks big time. I do less colored pencil work now for that reason, and more watercolor.

Traditional art media has always intrigued me, yes I noticed that many of the emerging and popular artists all use digial media, but I am really curious to see how traditional media would play out in a digital space. Your health is more important, take good care of it. Wish ya speedy recovery!

Sometimes I feel like birds are fantasy creatures cause they're so amazing and unreal. If we weren't so used to them... it's kind of like how people are so amazed by dinosaurs but not so much by blue whales. I feel like if blue whales were prehistoric creatures (and I pray they won't soon become such) people would be a lot more in awe of them. Same with bats, really... and I think if Cardinals weren't everywhere in America people would adore them as some far off, exotic bird and wish we had such nice birds here.
