Rock Dog - movie review by JohnStripedfur

Rock Dog is the latest animated movie that features anthropomorphic animals. Made by small studios from the oriental region. It's about a young dog name Bodi who wants to become a musician rather than be a guard dog to protect the village full of sheep. Hijinks ensued as young Bodi travels to the city to become a rock musician. While tying to get himself a band and being taught by the feline rock legend Angus Scattergood. Meanwhile, wolves try to find a way to get to the sheep village.

Pretty straight forward. The story is not that great. It's passable for an animated family movie, but there's not much else there. Got some good music, but not that memorable. Except for the one during the ending. The characters are pretty forgettable except for one or two, but not much else there either.

The animation however is pretty good for a studio's first animated movie. It's pretty colorful in some of the scenes and I did like the beginning when they did hand-drawn, but when they change it to CGI. That's when it becomes just average. The designs weren't phenomenal, but I've seen worse. The voice acting was pretty good. They got talented actors that fit each one. The one I'm having trouble with is Luke Wilson as Bodi. Wasn't sure if he's suppose to be a teenager or a young grown adult. It's hard to put it.

Overall, a mediocre animated movie that will make kids happy for 90 minutes, but the adults will just shrug it off. Won't become a classic down the road. Better off to see it as either an early matinee or when it comes available for rental via RedBox or digital.
