About the trick and how it's made by Ukuli

So, what is it that I do? I render. It means that I do use 3D models but what I do with them is morph them to what I desire or use ready morphed characters, cloth them, pose them and either build scene for them props and parts. Warning, contains small parts usually fits to this. x’D. My main tool for scene/character rendering is Daz Studio. Currently 4.9 Pro. It’s legally free program btw.

I began somewhere in 2008 if I remember right. With though of I’m gonna give it a go and see if it’s just a phase. After that 8 years…. Well… it certainly wasn’t a phase. I’m still enjoying my hearth’s content of it. Well.. not then when heavily loaded scene files make my Daz crash. x’D Or when taking out that 10th test render and there’s still flaws in scene or decide that character needs totally other hair or skin or new set of eyes. x’’D

I don’t use ready made character pack’s morphs very often. I rather go my own and then I do like combining different character pac’s stuff; skin and eyes. I have done very little my own custom textures. Btw, anything on a 3D scene usually can be customized by textures or shaders and of course morphs. Morphs are thing that give character their shape. Textures and shaders are what give character their final looks. Also to make things really go next level with lights. Also render egine helps.

When render is done, I often edit it with Gimp or other photo editing software. A friend of mine who’s wizard with filters tipped me with them. So, occasionally there are some filter magic taking place as well. Like little dot on top of i.

Also… very often things I use, they tend to fit in multiple places. I confess that is one thing that I look when I shopping. I tend to stalk for sales and freebies. x’D If you’re familiar at all with this hobby and artstyle, you know why. I’m not gonna lie about that like most hobbies this one too becomes pricy. For beginner I warmly recommend to work with freebies and get to know the program around. That way you’ll also gonna see if it’s suitable for them and then do investments for it.

That sums very much what I do and how I do 3D scenes and characters. Also explains why I like to credit people what have provided the materials where to patch things up. Even it probably doesn’t do good as reputation as an artist or make me taken seriously as an artist. Whatever. It is the least I can do and polite.

What I own is the final image made with them. I do use models from legal sources. Basic copyright with 3D renders goes that end user doesn’t own the models but has permission to use them on many purposes and owns the rendered images or animations. Btw, most freebies forbid use them commercially. So, do take a moment to read that readme file that they come with to see how it goes and also show up that much spine, moral and respect to do as it says. * glares *

What I don’t do is model them from scratch. I have been asked that couple of times. I have self-studied a bit of that too but it’s gonna need lot more practice. I began with Blender while I was working at one place but managed to forget most what I learned because I didn’t keep up practicing. Another modelling program I have occasionally used has been Aartform curvy.

Another thing that I have tried a bit is to create 3D worlds with Carrara and Bryce.

Maybe I should film up what is it excatly what I do and how?

PS. For sure it ain't any less demanging style of art.
