The True meaning of Christmas, what is it? (Opinion) by Sebastien.Hippo

Morning, Afternoon, Evening Everyone! Before I get started, Happy Holidays and may be the best wishes to all of you. Today, I felt like to make a journal, about what I think about Christmas. It's a thought that I have been analyzing for days and I realized something that it might be true, while others not, which is an opinion. So... Want to hear what I think about Christmas? Here we go. I hope you like it.

Since I have memory, I always remembered that it was presents and Santa Claus fantasy, which I believed in one time, was everything awesome and if I remember, I was 5. When I was growing up, my family told me that all these fantasies were all joke and it comes from atheists that makes the meaning of Christmas keep away. Because for them, and we all know, that the true meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. Obviously, I didn't get it, and it was like 10 or something. What I'm telling you guys is that we know two meanings, which is that fantasy about Santa Claus and all this presents and Christmas Tree, and the another one is the birth of Jesus Christ, that came to save the humanity. I'll summarize both meanings and let's find pros and cons, comparing them and everything. I'll try to be more brief yet detailed.

-I'll start with and I'll call it "Fantasy Island with Santa Claus". I don't know why but this tendency made it look so popular and still celebrating it everywhere, even here. I don't know where the origin come from, but you guys now that Santa travel everyone in one night and give presents to kids whom are nice, while naughty ones goes with Krampus, to be killed. Sounds terrible, right?
-Pros: Is extremely popular worldwide.
-Cons: Not relevant about the true meaning which is to spend time with Family and the bad kids are going to be killed by a demon.

-And the other meaning is "Jesus' Birth". I have been raised by passing time, and I find this more logical and more fundamental than the another one. This meaning is known for those who have been raised in the church or relatives whom are Christians. This meaning is nothing more than our God has been born in a manger, which is like a stable, who came to save the humanity from our sins to be saved. Some places, companies and franchises celebrate this meaning rather the traditional one. I have seen Chocolate candies, decors and sign, which use their Christmas stuff to replace it to Nativity of Jesus Christ. Like I told you earlier, I have been raised in a family that are Christians and where I live, it's more focused on this meaning.
-Pros: Is known by few and it has its own story which is interesting and Biblical. Ideal for Christians.
-Con: Not well known Worldwide and many people disagrees this celebration.

I'd like to add something before I end this journal, and there's something that bothers me a lot. No matter what meaning you believe, the Christmas has a new tendency that have been commercialized in a way so extreme. What I mean with this? I mean, people are stressed to buy to each other's presents and looking for the latest stuff. Is so often, and I see stores so full, buying too many stuff and fighting for a particular stuff. And not to forget that everything is getting even more expensive their new stuff. And at home, in Christmas day, opening presents and complaining the stuff if they don't like. Or it is phones, tablets and computers, they focus more on electronics and forget their relatives, spend time with their families, etc. The essential of Christmas is losing it and we're focusing it to the material, we're becoming too materialist, and less spiritual.

Lately, I have changed the point of view of the meaning of Christmas. You believe what you want, but make sure that my true meaning of Christmas is have fun, forget the presents and stuff, and spend time with your family, your neighbors, your friends, etc. I also learned that spend more time with your grandparents or any relatives before it's too late. It doesn't matter if is about Christmas or not, dedicate them at all costs if you have enough time. When you least expect it, one of your members will go forever, and you won't see the loved ones again. This year, 2016, I lost 3 loved ones, and one of them hit me pretty hard, which was my great grandmother. She loved to see me and my brother having fun. And her last days, was getting worse and we had to take care of her. Thankfully, she went in peace with no suffering and was all of sudden. I know that she's better than us and God was waiting for her with His open arms.

I'll leave that to you. Meditate yourself and analyze what you're going to do in this Christmas and future days. Well... Joyeux Noël! Merry Christmas! And Happy New year. I hope you get what you want the next year. :-)
