ZooBoo 2016 Recap 2 by RentonTBuck

After volunteering at ZooBoo again today, it wasn't exactly what I had expected, but I still had a good time entertaining the visitors.

The afternoon started off as wet and rainy; fortunately, I brought an umbrella to keep me and my costume from getting too wet. It was also fortunate that the rain subsided after the first hour of the event, so I was able to put my umbrella aside and enjoy the interactions.

The experience tonight was very much like last week, with me giving the children high-gives and hugs as well as getting my pictures taken from the parents. I even gave a few of them fist bumps.

Even though I wore a nametag that said "I'm a whitetail deer," many of the guests still kept confusing me for a reindeer; at least I wasn't mistaken for a moose like I was last week. lol The nametag did help a little in giving the guests clarification of what I'm supposed to be. I wasn't the only one with this problem, though; a female dragon fursuiter was once mistaken for a rabbit, and an arctic fox kept being mistaken for a wolf. lol

A few of the reactions from the guests varied quite a bit. One man asked me "Where's your white tail?" (My character has different shades of brown fur and no white underside), and I just simply shrugged. A woman initially thought I was a wolf when I had my umbrella cover my antlers due to the rain, but she soon figured out what I was. I'll never forget when a girl about 9 or 10 years old came up to me and said, "You're so cute!" before giving me a big hug. That actually warmed my heart. ^^

Though I was a little worn out from all the performing tonight, it was still worth contributing to the community what I enjoy doing and making other people around me happy, and that's what matters. :)
