What do you say to someone who has a serious illness, that could be fatal and who is feeling like giving up because the treatments makes his quality of life not worth haveing?
I am talking about my son, my only child who has cancer. He is 31 but that is way to young to die and he is my SON!

Give him all the love, support and encouragement you can. Even if you don't agree with whatever decision he makes, giving him those three things will help. The less stress he has with other aspects of his life, the more energy he can put in to fighting off the cancer. I am truly sorry to hear this. I have two close friends undergoing treatment now and my mother had just begun treatment before she passed away. (not of cancer) I wish you, your son and your whole family the best.

I have lost plenty of family to cancer, my son's mother died of lung cancer. I try to give him all the love, encouragement and support I can but we have a difficult relationship due to his PTSD, false memories and just the normal tensions between and adult child living with his father. It kills me to see him so stressed and so helpless.

I would tell him to FIGHT.
Way I see it, either the disease will win or he will win. Either way, he won't be suffering very long, so there's no reason to give up!
