Designer/Adopt maker rant... by Sapphirus

This happened on FB..... blah blah here comes a rant lol.

As a design seller, I really hate when a person has me to hold my designs for them for a week (starting Jun 21st), saying they got a huge check (800$) deposited, and the amount they're transferring to their paypal is taking longer than usual aka pending.

7 days later, which is how long max it takes to transfer cash from bank to paypal, then act like they're super busy all of a sudden to even message me back. I keep messaging them every other day and they ignore me yet they was able to update their FB profile on one of the days I messaged them on then come to me saying their internet wasn't working on their phone the whole time? What an excuse.....then said they would pay me the afternoon, two messages later (one yesterday) and today, no response.

This is why i'm strict on my rules on designs, because people like this, you give them a break, they abuse it and stall you. I don't mean to sound intimidating on my rules but with situations like this, I have to... ._.

Here's a tip. When you're advertising for adoptables, make it a rule that "your funds for this transaction must be up front. I do not perform holds."

It's honestly the only way around this sort of drama. If someone wants something badly enough, they should find it reasonable to pay for it up front.

When someone begins to act shady, or make unreasonable demands, it's your queue to back out, and tell them, "maybe next time." If they get out of hand, block them for a bit, or tell them you're going to add them to a black list of people who cannot purchase from you.

You absolutely must protect yourself, and your assets from shady business practices. Too many people take the fandom's artists for granted, and feel as if they can do what ever, because it's a business, and not a buddy.

I know it sounds harsh, but it's just the rules of supply and demand. If someone has a demand for something, they should have the currency to obtain it. Just don't open yourself up to this kind of behavior, and you won't have future problems :D.

I love your idea, when I started selling designs, ir was originally 1 week, with no strict rules after, then when things like this happened, I added the stricter rules + 1 day hold, switched the hold thing back to original when things was going well again.

But with this BS stirring up again, I think im gonna have to go towards that method permanently, with the exception of the ppl who bought my designs from me before/ppl I know, since i'd atleast know they're not screwing around, BUT if they change, they'll get the same method treated as a stranger next time.

(I Dont mind Harsh suggestions tbh xD )

As someone who has purchased adopts, as well as made huge mistakes with them (trying to re-sell), I come with a lot of experience on this. The drama alone is enough to make someone want to rip their hair out.

Just protect your investments, and interests. If someone wants something, great. If they have the money up front, great. If not, NEXT.

Thank you. I appreciate the advice. =)

And yeah, when someone excites you with an offer or interest, just to kill your hopes in the end is stressing.

Well, don't give up hope. Not everyone is a jerk xD. Not everyone has malicious intent, or acts shady. Some people actually do need to wait till payday. However, none of this is directly your problem. Since circumstances have pushed you into this corner.
