Welp (Not Great News, Fizgig Update) by thatlittlegoblin

Update May 26: So unfortunately she hasn't been getting enough to eat and has been drinking very little. This means they'll have to intubate so she can get the calories she desperately needs.

At this point I'm pretty sure that it's the stitches in her mouth that are making her not want to eat as every time she attempts she shakes her head and tries to push something outta her mouth with her tongue. When we get back after talking to the vet some I'll post a new journal.

So we brought her home, first and foremost though the reasons are less than happy.

She was refusing to eat at the vet's office. She's eaten a tiny bit, I think, since coming home & we've done everything we can to make sure she's comfortable and in a stress free zone (let her choose her hiding spot, laid her favorite blanket nearby, set out a food slurry/bowl of clean water/small catbox with clean litter, and leaving her alone so she's not being stressed out by too much handling)

but it's hard to tell really how much she's had to eat if she has in fact eaten and if there's no noticeable improvement tomorrow she'll have to go back to the vet Thursday morning and have a feeding tube inserted. Either way we have to go back to the vet Thursday so they can remove her painkiller patch.

Overall she has had over 100 stitches in her mouth, and the vet saw ulcers on her tongue as well. I feel awful but there's no way we could have known anything was wrong, and when we suspected something might be up we took her in. Augh. Poor baby. 8C

Same D8 we've done pretty much everything we can, but if she won't eat on her own we have no choice but to have a tube inserted. Nobody wants to do that though, so hopefully she'll try to eat something on her own.

I hope so too, she's let us pet her but doesn't want to come out from under the old dresser in the office so we made her a kind of box fort around it to make her feel more secure. So many :c 's on my face

Oh, poor baby, she must feel so uncomfortable right now. I hope she gets to eating on her own soon so you don't have to intubate. She's so lucky to have a family taking such good care of her.

And I know that feeling of "Oh god, I wish I'd known something was wrong earlier," but I know you're doing as much as you can and took care of things when you noticed them. It's so hard to tell with pets sometimes, they're very good about not letting on they're uncomfortable. All you can do is your best.

The stitches in her mouth are probably what's been doing it. She keeps shaking her head and trying to push them out with her tongue. 8C

Sorry to hear that, but hopefully she's just getting over having had the surgery, and kitty'll be chowing down in no time! :9
