I've been contemplating reorganizing my folders here on Weasyl. I'm not fond of how I have it set up at the moment. I'm considering grouping commissions by type instead of rating, and seperating personal work by projects.
What methodology do you use to organize your artwork in Weasyl's folder system?
P.S. I still have 3 slots open for speedpaintings over yonder.
Catagorizing by medium may be handy. I might do it by commission type which sometimes is seperated by medium so that could work 2 ways for me. It also makes it easier for potential customers to get an idea of what each kind of commission looks like. Pretty straight forward about what they are paying for.
I took a look through your gallery btw. Nice environment work.
Being mostly a commissioner, I have folders for each character who has a bunch of art and a couple lump folders for one-off work by theme. There's also a scrap folder for stuff (which doesn't appear on my front page) as well as a folder for my own photography and another for various other creative projects.
My gallery is a mixture of several possibilities. I seperated my art at first by the medium, means I have one folder for traditional and one for digital art. I also made a WIP folder, but I'm not happy with it. It would make more sense to have the WIPs close to finished pieces, so people don't have to switch folders to see the progress. Maybe I'm going to delete it and make one for random sketches instead.
Additionally I have a folder for characters of mine. If people would ever need references, they find them at one place. On the other hand, my other folders aren't flooded with "self" portraits. :D
I also have a folder for comics, which would be project related. However, this project won't be finished, so I'll probably delete it sooner or later and put the few pages to digital art. When I'd start a new project however, I'd make a new folder for it, because there the content matters more than how it was made.
Last but not least I have a (still empty) folder for erotic artwork. Just because I find it a bit uncomfortable to have a drawing with a child next to a threesome or so.. :P
My advice is to think of the most important thing of the pictures you are trying to separate. Is it what you can do with a pencil? Then make a folder for that. Is it a comic with several pages who need to be viewed in order? Separate them from the rest. Are you drawing many pictures from the medieval age and don't want them next to Sci-Fi art to keep the atmosphere? Make two folders for each of them. :)

I use kind of a hierarchical system based on the medium and the level of finish, with a separate folder for comics since those usually go in a specific order and I don't want them mixed up into the rest of my work.
