Burt MacPhearson is calm, even-tempered, and can deal with the most aggravating of problems with an almost zen-like quality. He has to, because one of his employees happens to be the most aggravating of problems at times, and also is living with him.

It’s almost as if he’s a saint-in-training.

Burt entered the life of Josh a few years after the death of the giraffe’s mother. He was in college, and the first person he met was Josh’s brother, Trent. One thing led to another, and soon the two were dating, much to the annoyance of a young Josh. Eventually, Josh did warm up to the panda, and after Trent left town, he moved in with Burt while going to college himself. To this very day, Burt and Josh have a special connection, but even that doesn’t let the giraffe in on the secret Burt’s been keeping–that Kevin is not only living with the panda, but he’s been sharing the same bed with the panda.
