Charla, or "Miss Rey" as some call her, is surprisingly popular for someone with so few close friends. The big reason for why that is is due to the fact that her mother is the famous (and, sadly, notorious) photojournalist Eureka Ecks-Rey, known far and wide for her outrageous photos of famous local legends and celebrities. Charla's heard people call her "glorified tabloid photographer" one too many times in her life, a fact that pains her in more ways than one: before becoming a tabloid photographer, Eureka worked as a family photographer for the Garkirl family community, a group of Ralts-line pokemorphs who live on a small island just northeast of Hoenn and technically under Hoenn territory. An incident concerning Eureka's daughter trying to hide the son of one of the most respected members of the Garkirl family from said family after a certain incident led to both the Ecks-Rey and the Garkirls having a falling out. The Sinnoh-born family moved considerably after that, finally situating in Viridian City, Kanto. The mother, in turn, started to grow more and more cynical of her fate in life, eventually reflecting those jaded views onto her own work and making her take more and more risks until she has become the vengeful paparazzi that she is today.

To say Charla resents her mother for how much she changed is an understatement. Because of this, she has vowed to someday become a famous photojournalist herself and make people respect the Ecks family name once more.

Her impatience to grow up led her to evolving prematurely into a Luxray, which gifted her with longer "pigtails" that were once part of her Luxio mane. That part she didn't mind -- the weeks of excess nausea and pain afterwards? That's another story.

Her father Renton Rey, an Ampharos, is for the most part supportive of his only daughter's wish to reach maturity to become the better Luxray, though he sorely wishes she try to not chase after her mom's tainted shadow so much and just focus on enjoying her own youth. He hopes that this new Kanto school will help use her aggression in more positive ways. He also hopes this team she's joined up will help to get her to meet new friends and lighten up a little.

As Team Crossroad's Sinnoh representative, Charla plays many roles: She's foremost the second offensive member next to the leader Meghan, using the fact that she's a Luxray and an Electric-type to full effect - the "Shock 'em and shock 'em" fighter, as Meg once put it. She's the fastest member of the team both with her feet and with her eyes - she well lives up to the specie's alias as the "Gleam Eyes" Pokémon when it comes to picking out weak points in the opposing team. Finally, she helps with the training by taking photos and videos of their past fights in order to learn from their mistakes.

And yet, despite her many roles, she's only in this for the sake of winning and getting the best grades possible from her time here...what this will mean for the rest of the team, only time can tell. There is at least one saving grace in all this: The young Gardevoir boy that Charla helped protect against his own family so many years ago has joined the group as its support unit. While things were admittedly awkward between the two at first, things are now looking significantly more positive now that Charla has her best friend again...and even something more.

Fun Facts:

• On one hand, Charla has a fondness for lewd jokes and tormenting her boyfriend with sexy talk. On the other, she's fully loyal to him and will refuse the advances of anyone erroneously thinking she's "loose". Those that do are often the first to feel her wrath and/or her Iron Tail.

• And on that subject, no, Nigel was not her "first". He is, if anything, her third: one was with a Blaziken classmate and former friend she'd rather not talk about with anyone, one was with another Luxray that did not last long, and Nigel.

• Charla's REAL passion in life (besides friends and loved ones) is her photojournalism. There are too few camera aficionados in the world for her to socialize with and it naaaaaags at her so. True, there are online forums for that, but she enjoys talking to much to ever settle for just that.

• Another thing Charla enjoys, though lacks as much time to practice it nowadays, is track and field. She loves running and getting to run is one of parts she most enjoys about being in a combat team.

• One of her vices is sucking on "Shock Sticks", essentially batteries shaped like cigarettes that Electric-types can enjoy. The technology is so advanced they even come with alleged flavors (Charla fancies Chocolate and Cheri Berry). The batteries themselves are harmless so long as you don't chew on them, which is a bad habit Charla's still working on breaking...

• Charla heavily favors using her teeth in combat more than anything else (save maybe her feet). She has all the elemental Fangs plus Crunch.

• As part of her aspirations to surpass her mother, she is very dedicated to her studying to keep her grades up. She favors science-based courses as well as math, with history courses being her weaker subjects.

• Her family was originally from Sinnoh, but thanks to her mom going on many a business trip early in life, she traveled quite a bit from school to school, with her current school being the one she's been in the longest and her time in the Garkirl community being the second longest. As such, she had few friends from her time before arriving to this school.

• Never, ever, ask her about the Mankey incident. Ever.

• To this day, Charla can't look her father in the eye and not laugh whenever he uses his Mega Stone. How her mom finds him the sexiest stud ever, she'll never know. Hey, she loves her dad, but a stud? Him? Ehhhh.

• One of her many nicknames for Nigel is "Tepee", after one of her favorite passtimes, which is to crawl under his skirt and-- moving on.

• She - well, her dad, technically - has pet Chinchous that they keep in an aquarium. The bottom is lined with Everstones to keep them from evolving. There are three of them: Biffy, Miffy and Diffy. It's hard to say how she tells them apart by sight.
