Hecuba embodies more of the real life things Ive encountered in my work as a physician and my spiritual feels of a witch. Hecuba is based off of the black dog that accompanies Hecate, goddess of witchcraft, the crossroads, the night, the moon and ghosts. Before she became a dog she was the mother of Hector and Paris, and lost them both after Troy fell in the story from the Iliad. I see her as a sight-hound as we frequently see that style of dog on ancient pottery and mosaics.
