Centuries after the Great Nuclear War (otherwise known as WWIII), humans have been eradicated from planet Earth. In their place, animals have mutated and evolved to walk and talk as humans once used to and have ruled civilization ever since.

However, as tensions started to rise between clans of different species of animal, citizens of the world began to fear yet another war. Around this time, Lena was born. She has no last name because she does not remember it. She spent the first few years of her childhood living with her grandparents, who then sent her to the moon via spaceship when WWIV broke out. Since then, Lena has been living a quiet, solitary life in a space base built on the moon.

Due to her very limited social interactions, Lena is constantly painfully lonely. She listens to instrumental music using Earthen instruments stored in the base her grandparents set up for her; she used to attempt listening to music with lyrics, but the sound of other voices was too overwhelming for her to bear. This is also why Lena prefers black-and-white movies to those in color-- the sensory stimulation is too much for her. Even so, she hates the sound of silence and always has music running in the background of the lunar base. She grows plants using the base's oxygen circulation system, and gardening calms her down immensely.

Overall, Lena is soft-spoken and incredibly naive, and she panics very easily. She longs to someday step foot on Earth once more and connect with people from her home planet.
