Captain Coast by THE-COAST-IS-NEAR

Captain Coast

THE-COAST-IS-NEAR

Name:
Captain Coast
Age:
Late 30s - 40s?
Gender:
Male
Species:
Human/Great White Shark

ORIGIN:

It's not known how or why Captain Coast came to be "cursed" like this. An intense storm at sea capsized and totaled his ship, and, as far as he knows, he's the sole survivor. Waking up ashore with nary a bruise or bump, but with altered skin, claws, a tail, and fins are all he remembers following that fateful night. In a weakened state, he realizes he has acquired gills as well -- and cannot stay out of the water for too long.

Now, with the weight of the curse on his back, and the guilt of losing his entire crew, he searches the seas for answers...

FORMS:

The Captain can take one of four forms. Early on, he couldn't control which form he could turn into, but now... Well, he has some semblance of control.

His abilities are altered depending on which form he's in. Intelligence corresponds to ability to think clearly, control aggression, and not to give in to instinct and animalistic behavior. Swimming corresponds to speed and finesse in water. Time on land is the maximum amount of time a form can be out of water before succumbing to dehydration.

Changing forms willingly takes a grand amount of energy and concentration, so the Captain must plan in advance if he needs a certain form.

Human

Intelligence: ★★★★★
Swimming: ★
Time on Land: Indefinite

The original, "default" form. The Captain does the majority of his land travels and planning in this form.

Anthro

Intelligence: ★★★★
Swimming: ★★★
Time on Land: Max. 3 Hours

The main secondary form. Providing the best possible balance between land and sea, human and beast, this form allows him to traverse the waters as his human form never could, and traverse land almost as easy. He must keep himself well-hydrated when out of water, however, to ensure that he can stay in that form for the appropriate amount of time. Dehydration will likely return the Captain to his human form in a weakened, dehydrated state, but death is also a possibility.

Merman

Intelligence: ★★★
Swimming: ★★★★
Time on Land: Max. 30 Minutes

A form that Captain Coast only occasionally uses, due to the energy required to change into, and its many drawbacks compared to the Anthro form. His shark tail becomes stronger and takes over his entire lower body, with extra fins appearing on his arms and his hands becoming webbed. This allows for even greater speed and agility under water. However, the amount of time he can be out of water is greatly reduced, and the chance of death is even greater. While the Captain's senses are heightened in this form, there is a real threat of him succumbing to instinct and losing control.

Shark

Intelligence: ★
Swimming: ★★★★★
Time on Land: NOT RECOMMENDED

Further loss of control in the Merman form will cause Captain Coast to fully become a feral shark. He will never use this form willingly. The Hulk to the Captain's Bruce Banner, the Captain will find it impossible to have direct control over this form and incredibly difficult to change back. Only a mental breakthrough -- some external stimuli to activate the remaining human part of the shark's brain -- will allow him to change back. However, this form can still be useful due to it possessing the greatest amount of strength and swimming ability possible for the Captain. (Additional fact: this form will cause the Captain to lose all his hair. When he changes back to his human form, he'll be completely bald and squeaky clean!)
