Born into a powerful family of Tielfings, Velcyra was expected to take her father's place as head of the Nine Hell's Syndicate, a Tiefling criminal organization in the city of Thymaria. Throughout the majority of her childhood, her family kept her sheltered and hidden away from what they were really doing, telling her it was charity work. Her family would only send her out into the public to pick up a few items every month or so, but this was to show her what everyone thought of their kind. The night of her 16th birthday, her father invited her to come with him to work so she could learn the family business, and what they were truly about. At first, she was very excited about this experience, hoping to see someone who loved Tieflings, but instead she was greeted with a cruel reality. Two subordinate Tieflings had dragged a ragged half-elf into her father's office with their tails, holding him up in front of him. Stunned by what she was seeing, Velcyra wanted nothing more than to help. As she took a step forward, she felt her father's hand on her shoulder. She cringed as blood flew across the room and covered her face. Horrified, she tore herself away from her father and began running. She didn't know for sure where she was going, but she couldn't stay with her family. She now knew why people stared at her the way they did; she was the daughter of a monster, and destined to be a monster. Velcyra ran into the forest on the outskirts of the city, and kept running until she came to a clearing where she collapsed in exhaustion. Looking up to the purity of the moon, she sat there and reflected on who she was, and what she wanted to be. She listened to and experienced the purities of the nature around her, the innocence of the animals, the gentleness of the breeze, and the calm of the dew in the grass. It was in those moments that she decided that she was going to work to break the curse of her evil ancestry, and show the world that not all Tieflings are evil. For three years, she stayed in the forest and learned the ways of the druids, and worked to suppress the evil that was deep within her heart.
