Bronwyn Morgan-Jones, a female Border Collie from Wales, was but a very junior professor of Celtic lore at Edinburgh University. She travelled all over the British Isles and parts of France to study ancient ruins, talk to people, and generally do a great deal of thankless research- for which her boss hogged all the credit. But what could she do? Her chances of becoming a tenured professor relate directly to how much she kisses up to the good old boys. But more and more it becomes apparent that she's seen as little more than a decorative piece of office furniture; the old fogeys don't take Bronwyn seriously at all. Contemplating her likely future as a glorified secretary she becomes increasingly despondent; it isn't just a job for her, she really likes what she's doing. Bronwyn feels that the ancient Celts were a great and noble people that the modern world has tried to marginalize and forget. She also comes to virulently despise the parochial patriarchy; not only because it's crushed her own ambitions but from seeing how Christian theology ruthlessly rooted out and exterminated Celtic beliefs.

One day Bronwyn is off on another thankless research trip, photographing some ruins in a particularly remote and wild part of Wales, when she gets lost. While attempting to turn around her car gets stuck in a bog, leaving her stranded on the moors with night coming. Fearing the prospect of spending the night in the open and recalling a petrol station a ways back she hikes out- only to have the evening fog sock her in. She turns back but now can't even find the car. Dark finds her still wandering. She knows full well how cold the moors get at night and how unlikely it is for her to survive until dawn without warmth and shelter. In a panic Bronwyn starts running- and goes right over a hidden escarpment. She tumbles through the bracken and lands, bruised and disarrayed, in the bottom of a narrow cleft... with an ancient dolmen built in it. The dolmen at least offers some shelter, so she piles bracken and leaves inside and curls up.

Eventually, despite the cold, Bronwyn drifts off... and dreams about a strange, luminous creature. In her dream she walks with it across the moors while it tells her of things that happened long ago. She listens in rapt fascination. Along the way they meet other creatures; Bronwyn begs them to tell their stories too. So it goes- until suddenly she wakes up. Bronwyn finds herself sitting in a sheepherder's cottage, wrapped in a warm blanket, next to a crackling fire. But she doesn't remember arriving. She searches about... and finds the shepherd, dead, his face twisted in a rictus of terror. Suddenly it all comes back and realizes what happened. The luminous creature she encountered was a Bane Sidhe; it had occupied the dolmen for centuries but was now on the verge of extinguishing. It offered Bronwyn a deal: it would save her life if she saved its life. Bronwyn agreed and the spirit entered her. But it wasn't the only one; a number of ancient spirits, sensing a spark, came out and offered themselves as well.

Bronwyn now finds herself in a position not unlike Zalika. She still has all her memories and all but taking the spirits into herself has distorted her so much that while she seems like the same person she's not, really. And all the spirits are rather violent and vengeful in nature:

Spirit of Epona - Bronwyn can speak with horses, asses, donkeys, and such creatures. She can't mind-control them but they will take whatever she says in the friendliest possible way. (This applies to Morph as well as non-Morphic equines.) She can run at super-speed, but only after transforming into a 'taur. She lactates constantly (both from her breasts and her bags) and can either force or prevent pregnancy in herself and others. (Epona was originally a fertility goddess).

Bane Sidhe (Banshee) - Bronwyn can wail in such a fashion that anyone hearing will panic, convinced beyond any possible doubt that they're about to die. At high intensities, she can cause people to die of fright. If she screams, her voice inflicts physical damage. She can also turn Ethereal (which lets her pass through material objects) and also step through the Veil into DreamTime. While ethereal she can't use any of her other powers.

Grogoch - Bronwyn is immune to extreme heat and cold. To maintain this ability she must periodically consume a certain amount of fresh cream.

Merrow - By assuming a mermaid form, Bronywn can swim and super speeds and breathe underwater. (She cannot, however, breathe in air; if removed from water she must revert or suffocate.) She can live safely in any aquatic environment: freshwater or marine, deep or shallow, hot or cold.

Spirit of Mor-Rioghain - Bronwyn is super strong, super tough, with super fast reflexes and a natural skill in combat. (This skill extends only to the use of her natural weapons and her staff.) She's drawn to battles and delights in physical strife for its own sake.

Redcap - By bathing in fresh blood, Bronwyn can both heal herself of physical injury and restore herself to youth and beauty. Human blood is best but animal will serve; it simply takes about five times as much.

Personality
Bronwyn's biggest psychological limitations are arrogance and over-confidence; she thinks her powers and abilities set her above ordinary people and that because of them she can handle any situation. She does what she wants and if people object she swats them. Needless to say that gets her into lots of trouble, which she usually tries to fight her way out of. She only runs if she's clearly overwhelmed, and sometimes not even then.

Her co-workers do say that Bronwyn does seem to have a mildly disturbing interest in violent things - whenever there's an auto accident or a particularly brutal crime she always wants to hear all about it. Among the men she's regarded as something of a cock tease, constantly on the watch for new partners and casting aside old ones without a second thought. She lusts tremendously but loves very little.

Bronwyn is wild and chaotic, but vengeful only in an immediate, hot-blooded way; she doesn't usually nurse grudges. (She makes an exception for Super Collie.) She doesn't despise men so much as pity them for being weak, foolish creatures; they exist, in her mind, primarily to satisfy her lust; in that capacity they're generally well treated, like valuable pets. Women she generally regards as being even more silly and foolish than men, for pinning their self-worth on the approval of feckless males.
