forest troll

Stiks is a female troll that roams the upper parts of Europe (mostly Scandinavia) with her friend Stowns, the giant chicken. The males of her particular troll species would normally eat such a large chicken, but she protects it, so they don't care to bother with it. Like all trolls, she cannot be out in the sunlight, otherwise, she turns to stone, so she mostly wanders about during the deepest parts of night and in the thickest forestry before the sun rises. (for females of her species, it takes stronger sunlight than males; the sunlight has to be directly on them),

She has two older brothers and a mother, and her father turned to stone not too long after her birth.
When it's dark and there are people lost in the woods, she will often guide them out with a light source so her brothers won't get to them first (they'd likely kill and eat anyone to trespass on their territory). Her brothers don't like that, of course, and though most times, they don't know about her doing it, her mother always knows and scolds her for it. Stiks is said to be too weak for a troll, even for a female (who are up to four times smaller than the males in this species). Any humans that see her, in fact, find that this behavior of hers makes her seem more like an elf or nymph or something much friendlier than the average troll (even though females generally don't go trying to eat humans like males, they're not against throwing rocks and lead males to humans).
Sometimes, humans that do happen to see her try to come back every once in a while to make friends, but after a certain amount of time, she'll no longer see them so that they're not in danger and she's not suspected by others.

Stiks is kind to all living things, but she is otherwise mellow and shy. She prefers the peaceful and relaxed way of living, picking flowers, mushrooms, and berries instead of going after living animals to eat. Of course, she still must eat some meat, but she doesn't do the killing since her brothers and mother can handle that (her mother must stick to catching birds and fish and rabbits due to her small size while her brothers can catch deer and cattle and even large predatory animals). She's not extremely intelligent, but she's smarter than the average troll (though that's not saying too much since trolls are rather simple-minded and dim-witted). She spooks easily, but also recovers from frights quickly and can be quite brave when necessary.
