This is the original design of my character, Lanóvran (as drawn here by the wonderful Qarrezel of Clockwork Creature fame). Lanóvran zan-Faervan (a name derived from a fictional language, which translates to "Guardian of Song," or more simply, "Songkeeper") is a Coyophian, which is essentially an anthropomorphic hybrid of coyote (Canis latrans) and western diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox).* As seen here, he is a talented musician, and he fits somewhat into the mold of the "warrior monk" archetype.

Lanóvran's original form was primarily canine, albeit with reptilian features such as scales on his belly, face, and feet, along with a more reptilian snout, eyes, and viperine fangs. His coloration was reminiscent of southwestern native designs, with patterning akin to that of a diamondback rattler. Lanóvran would typically be depicted wearing a black feather behind his left ear, signifying his place within the Black Feather Clan of his people.

While I truly love this original iteration of Lanóvran, I have decided that he is a bit too complex and confusing to have a consistent backstory, and too impractical and expensive for use as a fursuit design (particularly where potential performance requirements come into play). As such, while Lanóvran zan-Faervan the Coyophian may still find a place in artwork and fantasy from time to time, I shall instead prefer to think more in terms of his newer, somewhat more down-to-earth interpretation.

*I designed this character before ever having heard of or seen those stupid-looking nightstalker creatures from whatever video game they're from. There's no relation there whatsoever.
