Kamakiri is an oriental mantis of the Deroplatys genus. The name commonly attributed to her species by people is the "Dead Leaf Mantis." This name is given due to the fact that the carapace and wing structures of her wild cousins resemble that of a dead leaf. They even softly tremble when under threat in order to confuse potential predators. Her chitinous carapace is black in hue, while the backs of her wings are a mottled brown-and-black pattern. Should she lay still on the ground and be surrounded by actual fallen leaves, she will blend in very nicely. Her patterns have scaled up to her more human size very well, though it presents some problems when hiding from intelligent beings.

Kama has a fairly slender, petite appearance overall. Her head is fairly feminine and is beset with large eyes, though more human in setting than that of her feral cousins. From the top of it, she has long, flowing, crimson hair. Her neck is highly flexible and allows her a full 180-degree range of motion. Her shoulders and chest are slight, though the former are slightly wide for her size to account for the strength of her arms. Of which, while a normal insect would have six limbs, she only has that number as a technicality. Where most of her species of mantis of her stature would have four arms, she has only two. However, those arms are effectively normal human arms fused into the inner sides of her mantis claws.

Continuing on with her general appearance, she has two pairs of wings on the other side of her torso. A smaller, primary pair lays folded over her second, larger pair that she can use for limited flight. When she unfurls those wings, people in front of her are granted a view of large patterns which appear to be red eyes. Lower, on her stomach, she has a narrow splotch of red chitin running down the center of her stomach. She lacks the normal abdomen area protruding from her back that is common on all other mantids. Below her belly and further on down, she has fairly normal anatomy all the way until her feet. There, her ankle splits down in two areas rather than one, equally sized portions of chitinous foot digits running forward and backward instead of the normal forward position of human feet. Along the bottom of those, she has flat, slightly dull spikes, with no toes at the end of either digit.

The mantis is usually clad in form-fitting leather armor, a loose Gi, a Kimono, or a Qi Pao in descending order of occurrence. From commonly wearing her armor to very rarely wearing a Qi Pao. Anything with wide, open sleeves or no sleeves is ideal for her due to the nature of her arms.

Thank you very much! The artist did sooo well. Made her so damn adorable! It's difficult to live up to!

I try to do a lot of research and studying before creating my characters. I must say, though, that the artist took some liberty with his own designs for her scythes in particular. My initial ideas revolving around them were to the effect of appearing to have a normal-looking, chitinous arm fused into the inner side of a broad, tall, mantid's femur. It'd allow more strength to be placed behind her scythes. As is, I just roll with it~

I also happen to dabble in some sliiight martial arts myself IRL, so I know terminology and how to fluidly perform combat with the mantis. Which makes playing her very fun.
