Anzel Thane was born after his father Sebastian's rebellion was ended at the hands of Mikhail Telbain. He stood out immediately as he was a very large infant. The youngest of three children, he never knew the glory of House Thane, only the betrayal.

Anzel, like his siblings, tried very hard to erase the stain on his family's honor. He chose to server Luaere initially but quickly found he was not suited for the Sodality's rigid structure. Eventually he left their service without word and was not heard from for many years until he reappeared with his own agenda and Axiom, the spear of knowledge.

The Sodality has, at times, classified Anzel as a traitor and deserter. This has led to many conflicts and the unfortunate death of Exarch Faulk.

Anzel is the largest known Vargan.
