Itszutak

itszutak

Name:
Itszutak
Gender:
Male
Height:
5'10"
Weight:
1500 lbs
Species:
Dragon-Pangolin

Itszutak is a relatively small male dragon, just under six feet tall (on all fours). He has gray skin that is all but covered in large bronze scale-plates, like a pangolin. Due to these scales, Itszutak is unable to fly; however, he can roll into a ball to protect himself. Itszutak's armor also acts as a beak of sorts, allowing him to rend flesh. Itszutak's secondary means of defense are a sort of ice-spear breath (with extremely limited use) and simply rolling over on things with his 1500 lb frame. Itszutak's only weak spots are the undersides of joints (neck, armpits, the whole crotch/genitals area), and his eyes, although his belly scales are considerably lighter than his back scales.

He is of mature age for his species (equivalent to a bit over 20 in human years) and is fairly intelligent, although communication usually happens through non-vocal medium, due to the nature of his beaked mouth. Depending on the setting, communication can occur through magic, text-to-speech, or just body language and actions. Itszutak's vocalizations are usually basic growls and strange noises but can communicate emotion or comfort. Itszutak will also use his tail and wings to express mood.

Itszutak's diet consists of river meats (eels, freshwater fish, etc.) and ore-rich rocks, which are metabolized into his scaleplates. He collects human artifacts-- complicated trinkets made by humans-- which he dissects in his endless curiosity. Most of the time, he can even put them back together, thanks to opposable thumb-claws on his front legs.

Itszutak himself is a former exotic pet, rescued from some...sketchy black market kinda place. Doesn't really matter. In the wild, dragon-pangolin scales are much lighter, and are mostly keratin; years of malnourishment gave Itszutak an inability to metabolize keratin properly without metallic reinforcement, so his keeper feeds him bronze as an alternative (as it is easier for dragon-pangolins to process).
