Character from a novel I'm working on??? Fascinating, I know.

A particularly heinous serial killer who viciously mutilates the bodies of his victims, who are usually female, but who, very rarely, may be male.

Adopted a few days after birth, he was not meant to know that his parents were anything but his natural mother and father--it was a secret to everybody, even as an adult. As a child, he somehow found out, but said nothing of it; nonetheless, he was slightly maladjusted, first for a brief period around the age of six, and then once again he started reaching adolescence, around 13 or 14. The second time, he was sent to a school for disturbed children, and both rough patches evened out fine with little lasting incident.

In his late teens, he--along with a number of other people--were inadvertently and unknowingly exposed to the cells of a dead god who has fallen from the sky, but obliviously carried on with his life until his early twenties, when he was involved in a traumatic accident that caused severe damage to his skull. Thanks in part to those cells, he survived with no apparent damage to his memory or facultues, but due to a combination of both factors, he was subsequently unable to feel physical pain. A couple of years later he obtained the back tattoo.

Soon after, his adoptive mother fell ill, and trips to the hospital revealed that she had cancer--already metastasised in her body, there was little they could do. It was now that John began to demonstrate his first truly unusual behaviour, and he spent the next eighteen months pouring increasing amounts of sacrificial blood over his "prayer log," a section of fallen oak in the woods behind the family house. Unsurprisingly, this accomplished nothing. In the end, he killed her himself, either via strangulation or smothering, because she was "filthy." She had been "tainted," according to him. "By me." He was 27.

Four years later, he is now searching for The One, a specific(?) girl who will help him cleanse the world of taint. He appears to alternate between calling himself a Monster, who is Tainted and causes corruption, and the other half believing that because he Knows Things, he is the arbiter and can purge those who are tainted. He is apparently searching for The One, and she will help him cleanse the world of taint.

In case it wasn't entirely clear, John Clorin Muidos is actually psychotic.

TRIVIA

• Mutilates every corpse horribly--and I do mean*horribly*. Doesn't usually take trophies, but he tends to get a bit overzealous.

• He's moved around a bit--he used to live in the city, now in the suburbs.

• Really likes being barefoot. He really hates "No shoes, no service" signs. Wears shoes when he's murdering, of course. Unless it's in his own home. Which is almost always. But, you know. Kidnapping takes shoes, and he always makes it a point to wear shoes a couple sizes too small for it.

• His "prayer log" is still with him, and he still pours blood over it for things--it's currently suspended from his basement ceiling with chains, one chain on either end. It's hung at an angle, so it's more or less diagonal.

• His basement, unshockingly, is where he does most of his murdering.

• Really likes chocolate milk.

• As a child, he had a stuffed lion doll, which his adoptive mother gave him. It is currently in his mother's estate, which is still being contested. While his mother is known to have left a will, no one can find it.

• Has a current girlfriend, maybe?

• Asexual?

• (The two are not mutually exclusive.)

• Has a degree in culinary arts, and is currently working as a chef at a local restaurant. No, he does not feed his victims to the customers. Don't be crass. He has, however, been known to eat parts of them himself. Among other things.

• When he's killing someone, he says the words his victims speak just sound like "Blah blah blah." Not words at all.

• Says his life became "much more exciting" once he began killing people.
