Nym's species is called the Alecani; a species of small winged canines with speech capabilities, small dexterous hand paws, a high level of intelligence and adaptability, and sometimes the ability to manipulate magic. They are also extremely empathic creatures, and very curious about other animals. They strive to learn about, understand and interact with other animals. As a result, they've helped build a world in which many species coexist peacefully. A good day for an Alecani is a debate over tea with another species.

The trade of tea and spices is crucial in Nym's world. Tea and spices serve as medicine, ritual aid, currency, and many other purposes. Tea can be what it is in this world, just a nice beverage to enjoy. Or it can have powerful medicinal qualities. Some teas also act as mind altering drugs, so of course there is a market for that. Some are even outlawed for the properties they possess. Others still have magical properties. Needless to say, there is an enormous market for teas and spices of all kinds. And who better to be able to gather and distribute them? The little winged Alecani.

She hails from a village of red desert canyon Alecani. Her people have spent generations carving homes from the rocky canyon sides, and have created a vast complex in the earth. No one knows how deep and expansive the carvings are, as some of the old passages have been lost to knowledge over time.

Nym's job is to fly to the markets and place orders for the crucial teas and spices her village needs, along with her companions. Since she gets to travel a lot, she gets to encounter and speak with lots of different species. She has friends and contacts all over the world, and she is still new to her job.

At some point she finds herself traveling alone (I have not worked out the details yet), and ends up in a giant ancient forest. There she encounters a reclusive tribe of forest Alecani. It is here that she discovers her ability to manipulate nature/plant magic.
