[This is a general reference for the species, indeviduals may vary]

Moonwolves are an unusual species that live around mountain ranges, where their sure-of-foot and certain powers allow them to thrive with relative ease. Far from being 'wild' animals, they're about as intelligent as the average human, with a clear and respected hierarchy. They're Omnivorous, prefering fruits to meat most of the time due to their size compared to most of the game and prey animals in the environments around them.

The hierarchy is similar to that of the usual wolf packs, Alpha's at the head of things whilst the others obey orders unquestioningly. Their intelligence makes them highly empathetic, leading to a somewhat mutual understanding should two disagree. As such fights between indeviduals and other packs are rare.

Each moonwolf has a layer of fine fur depending on their home climate, for instance in the mountains it would have a thick coat, whereas on a flood-plain it would have a thinner coat. The ears are considered unconventional, given they resemble ribbons more than ears, however they seem to function just as well. The tips of the ears and tail have a diamond shape in a different colour to the main coat, often indicating the moonwolfs' particular ability, which is relative to each indevidual and gender.
For instance:

  • A female with light-blue/turquoise markings would have offensive powers based around ice
  • A male with light-blue/turquoise markings would have augmentative powers based around ice And so on... Overall, its worth noting that Females have offensive powers (I.e, hitty, shooty, blowy-uppy, etc), whilst males are augmentative (I.e, strengthening, shielding, etc).

Moonwolves have no specific behaviour as a species, some are openly agressive, some are more playful and others more content in their own company, however this has no effect when under the influence of a hierarchy.

Despite being used to packs of 3 and more, they're more than content with pairs, meaning that the few moonwolves that have been domesticated, or brought for domestication, have behaved fairly well and thrived just as well as in the wild.
