Aside from world, mythos, and time frame, Hayden isn't any different in SnB than he is in AP (Amber Peace, my novel project from which he originates). The ref sheet shown is from Silver & Bone, with only his human form and were form being canon for my novel.

Background: (CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS) (AP) Born Isaac Kade Whittingham in 1810, Hayden was one of four children, three of which were werewolves. His original parents were both pureblood werewolves, but when his real mother died in a fire, his father remarried a human woman. His fraternal twin sister, Melanie, was born "therian", meaning she'd have the same impulses as a regular lyncanthrope but would be unable to shift. Hayden was disowned from his family when he was 18, after killing his father in a battle for supremacy. His step-mother was glad to be rid of him. He found this out through his twin sister, with whom he shared an unusual relationship and whose death he blames a lot of his current emotional/mental problems on as he was never able to "connect" with her in the way he wanted to, mostly because Melanie was sane. :P But, anyway, his older brother, Riley, upset that his father had been pressured by their step mother to leave everything to Nicholas, the youngest and Hayden and Riley's half-brother, set fire to the estate, disregarding the fact that Melanie was still inside. Hayden was devastated and after braving his phobia of fire, pulled Melanie's body from the flames only to do what anyone with a prediliction to consuming would do; he ate her. And now entertains a selfish fantasy in which she reigns over the Void inside himself as a kind of queen and everyone he eats is destined to join her. A part of him knows this to not be true, but he often carries on as if it is. Hayden's preferred prey are young women with whom he often sleeps with; his wolf sees them more as food while his human half as sexual partners, though there is obviously a lot of overlap and a lot of leeway in this interpretation. Hayden prefers female werewolves as sexual partners to humans even though they're relatively more difficult to find than males.

After the death of his sister, Hayden wandered off into the world, changing his name several times before settling on Vance Hayden which he's stuck with for the past 50 odd years, and went on many adventures, taking up all kinds of occupations in an effort to simply carry on living. In truth Hayden doesn't really know why he's so adamant against dying when he's so disenchanted with life. He lives for sex and death, wholeheartedly embracing the violent, monstrous aspects of himself even if his wolf-persona is by far the more sane one of his two, psychic halves. His wolf essentially allows him to function normally and keeps his human-personality in check, otherwise Hayden probably would have just turned out to be your run-of-the-mill psychopath. He has an obsession with being able to feel things - mostly emotional connections or anything that can cause a rise in heart rate, which basically defines him as an adrenaline junky - and his wolf allows him access to a broader range of these sensations including the euphoria and sense of power that comes along with being a werewolf. Hayden sees what he does as a natural part of being a predatory animal and not as aberrant human behaviour and doesn't understand why he's not supposed to enjoy it.

As of the plot of my novel, Hayden was infected with a special kind of virus (The Black Mark of Lycaon) that will eventually cause his wolf-persona to go out of control, essentially rabies for werewolves. He makes a bargain with some werewolf hunters who had come after him and who work for the organization that enhanced this pre-existing virus, to retrieve the rogue cure embodied in that of Autumn Isen, the main character.
