Melody Mays ran away from home at the age of 14. She managed to find her way to California during the gold rush, and hit it big time when she teamed up with renown bandit, Malcolm Matthews. What she didn't know was that her new partner, and later her lover, was a werewolf. He bit her in a frenzy, and Melody became a werewolf herself. Continuing their life of stealing and evading the law, Melody lost Malcolm suddenly and violently when a bounty hunter finally managed to claim the bounty on Malcolm's head.

A few days prior, Malcolm had expressed that he wanted to "go straight" or settle into their own pack in the wild away from humans.

She's done odd jobs since then, mostly living on the edge of "going straight" and continuing her life of crime.
