In the pursuit of happiness I decided that I needed a character that was able to have a parent. Since I love Lem dearly and couldn't imagine myself as anyone else, I instead decided to create an alternative reality for him. This was both for my obsession with keeping my characters within the realm of their storyline and personality at all times, and for the sake of creating a world where I, the older and oft-neglected cub that I am, can have a parent and explore/become my inner-child when such needs arise. In this alternative world, instead of keeping Lem and sending him away once deemed a failed experiment, the scientific corporation that created him decided to implant his embryo in his mother and do the right thing. Of course this world is incredibly different. Lem wouldn't be named Lem, simply something he was called as the result of an acronym, but would be known as Hunter; a real and proper name. Hunter would have gone to school, would have made friends, would be able to read and write. Hunter would be clean, would have support, would know what it's like to be loved, hugged, and treated to the sort of life every child deserves. Hunter, sadly, lost his mother while he was being born and only has his father, Robert, but his father loves him dearly and that's more than enough sustenance. Hunter still has the same identity issues that Lem has, being picked on in school and treated as a freak by some, but has enough protection and encouragement from his father to survive those moments. Hunter unfortunately doesn't have Davy, but he finally resides in a world where, with the success of his birth, others like him are slowly being born to inter-species couples and Hunter will have the opportunity to meet them and know them.
