Flintlock Grimmhugs is an Ash Legion thief and vigilante swashbuckler.

He owes his comical surname to an unusually affectionate disposition back in the fahrar. This culminated when his superiors tried and failed to help him choose his identifying suffix by asking what his favourite thing about the charr was. The only response they could ever get from him was "Huuugs!~" and a decidedly un-soldierly embrace of the instructor.

This quickly became a running joke among his friends and the rest of the Grimm warband. Compounded by his youthful, cub-faced appearance which persisted into adulthood, the name "Grimmhugs" eventually stuck. After losing most of those same friends to the skirmish with Duke Barradin's ghost, he's since embraced the name as a bittersweet memento of his childhood.

As a gladium, he left the Citadel for Lion's Arch and the promise of a fresh start. He quickly found his personal moral code at odds with the city's rampant piracy, and chose to fight the system from within. He managed a fine balancing act of rubbing elbows with the local nobility, and participating in covert assaults on pirate dens and corrupt officials' private armies. He attributes his success in these endeavours to what he believes to be a more nuanced view of stealth; One of a charismatic personality that hides in plain sight.

After returning home in modest wealth and acclaim, he formed a set of close friendships as well as a new, nameless warband with Kadenza Sunbreaker, Livia la Taillade, and his mate, Prrowa Rustjack. They share a common goal of exploring the world for the sake of doing so, and look down on adventurers who see life as a treasure chest waiting to be looted.

Flint is sharp witted and soft spoken. He enjoys cooking, jewelry making, and tending to his pet birds. He dresses snappily and typically wields a pistol and dagger, complemented by a shortbow and a selection of caltrops, venoms, and raw agility, depending on the mission.
