Story: Saturnian Firefly

Name: Jarael, AKA: Alice, Firefly

Personality: Jarael is a very selfless person and counts his family (blood-related and not) first before anyone else. He is not afraid to do what has to be done to protect those who are important to him. He's a very caring person, but can be rather foul-mouthed due to his upbringing in what was more or less a gang-environment in a world where he was marked as a fugitive from an early age. He knows how to do the dirty work and be dishonest, but prefers honesty and good deeds that benefit others. To an outsider, he might appear like something of an unruly 'punk', but he's actually quite nice to those that earn his friendship.

Appearance:

Body: Dark complected and slightly above average height for much of his life. He actually becomes relatively tall compared to most, though not by Saturnian Yevik standards (they are typically very tall, willowy, yet lean figures. silent, nimble hunters of the wilderness.)

*SPOILER* Due to exposure to poison: Jarael's body is very unhealthy-looking in appearance. He finds it nearly impossible to keep a healthy weight. His ribs are visible and he is very thin. If stressed, his lungs begin to feel like they are burning and he cannot breathe. He has found that the smoke from Darius's cigarettes tends to help the attack slowly ease away.

Man (ink - henna red) : His first tattoo received on his left arm when he was just a child. There is a "V" with an armband that wraps around the upper arm, beneath the armpit. From the tip of the "V", on the inside, there is a trail of circles that grows thicker until they reach his shoulder and stop. There are a pair of thin diagonal stripes on either side near the top of his shoulder and stretching down.

*SPOILER* Meaning: It is meant to signify his acceptance in the tribe as a man.

"V" and dots: It tells the story of how he journeyed to the top of the mountain and back (the "V" symbol representing the mountain and the dots representing his journey)

The stripes: The stripes represent the threat Jarael faced inside. The stripes are usually meant to depict beasts, though this was not the case for Jarael. It was meant to represent the watcher in the mountain, Kasian. She is considered the monster because of the murder she committed and how it is connected to Jarael (it was his father).

Fire (ink - henna red) : His second tattoo received on his back shortly after the first.

(1): At the top on either side of his back, there are two small stripes. Beneath each pair of stripes are dots.

(2): At the center of his back (a bit below the shoulder-blades) is a small circle. There are a pair of curves at either side, nearly enclosing the circle.

(3): At either side and below (2) are a pair of two small stripes forming an unclosed "v", each with a dot at the center.

(4): Directly below (2) are stripes similar, but larger than those in (3). These are pointed away from (2)

(5): A pair of stripes same as but smaller than (4). They are at the lowest point of Jarael's back, below and at either side of (4).

*SPOILER* Meaning: It is meant to signify his acceptance in the tribe as the shell of fire.

(1): These stripes, like the ones in Jarael's "Man" tattoo represent a beast. The dots are added representing the beast's importance. This part is meant to represent Jarael's spirit guardian, the night-thing that visited Mother.

(2): The dot at the center is meant to represent Jarael himself. The curves around him are his impact on the world around him.

(3): These represent the people in Jarael's life that accept him.

(4): These represent the people in Jarael's life that reject or misunderstand him. Pointing between the ripples, they do not see,see past, or ignore his impact. The fact that the points are also pointed directly between the ripples and towards Jarael signify their threat to him.

(5): These, just like those in (4), represent the people in Jarael's life that reject or misunderstand him. They are larger, being the representation of the world of people who will fear, hate, or simply misjudge him. They are not pointed towards Jarael in threat.

Hair: His hair is long with blond bangs framed about his face in the front and the rest is henna-red.

Eyes: Swampy-green with flecks of gold color deep within.

Clothes: His clothes are primarily khaki/beige in color. *I keep changing this design like a derp..but here goes..

Jacket: Is lined in black, is sleeveless, and is left mostly open. It is pulled inwards, at the middle of his chest, just below the breast, by small thin black straps connected to silver buckles. It drapes open and back where it has two split tails. The tip of the tails, the longest part of the jacket, reach about knee-length.

Fishnet: Black v-neck fishnet with long sleeves. The sleeves form a V over the back of the hand and wrap around the middle finger.

Pants: Loose-legged cargo style with large pockets. He has a chain that hangs from the front left pocket. Pants have a wide black band around the knees.

Cuffs and sleeve: Right arm has arm-warmer style sleeve with black band at top and black cuffs with silver cufflinks. Left arm only has black cuff with silver cufflinks.

Boots: Black laced boots. Only feet viewable under pants legs.

Yevik: crude slang for a planet's native-born humanoid species

Fire: Jarael is known as the "shell of the spirit of fire" by his tribe's beliefs. He was born blessed by fire according to their reading of the stars. However, his tribe's beliefs also swore that males were not able to be blessed. Also, his mother was not meant to have had a child with Jarael's father, so it was hard for him to find acceptance within his birthplace. Still, they more-or-less respected the spirits and treated him, not as a blessed man, but as the shell of fire.

Firefly: Jarael is known as the Firefly due to his ability to control and summon fire that shocked and amazed the rest of the world beyond his tribe. The name stuck after certain actions which made his power and his name infamous.
