"Singing Grimby, Dancing Grimby
Blue and black beneath the moon!
Whirling Grimby, Wild Grimby
Make your Devil dance his tune!
Grimbald! Grimbald!
The Queen of Dream!"
GRIMBALD is a recurring character in Goldeen Ogawa’s mythos. Best described as a trickster folk hero and sometimes god, the grumpy and unpredictable ruler of the realm of dreams and memories. She is often associated with the moon and night, famous for her biting violin (the "Goblin's Fiddle"), and is considered the counterpart of Tobius Leander (sun, day, flute). Her shape, size, and even her gender have changed throughout the millennia. For the past few thousand years, however, she has appeared as a small, round, blue-skinned woman with curling brown hair and glass-white eyes.
PERSONALITY: Grimbald is capricious and mischievous, but since she normally targets demons and other haunts, she poses little threat to humans. Usually. She is blunt and straightforward when not playing tricks, and once obliged to give her word she will stick to it. She has a bad habit of stealing crowns, likes playing the violin and dancing.
NAME: Grimbald picked her name for two things she is not: grim and bald. We haven't asked her why she did this, and we recommend you don't either. She is often referred to by the knick name "Grimby."
