Note: I noticed a lot of people are drawing him purple. Normally I encourage character interpretation, but my only peeve with this character is people drawing him purple. I drew him in off-black just for clarification with the lines; the black is supposed to be crow-black and optionally has a magpie-like shine. That said, draw him black, gray, whatever, just not purple. I'm okay with the bluer shades of purple though. Thanks.
I guess I forgot to draw him with clothes, but he'd probably just wear stuff from here: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/browse.things?uid=2659124
Since the whole point of Dexter (the lizard dude) is being morally ambiguous alllll the time and generally socially unacceptable, I wanted a chill counterpart.
As for what kind of bird he is, specifically... probably a corvid or an auk; a mix of magpie and razorbill, maybe.
Most people who've drawn him so far don't make the eye markings connect to the neck markings. Although I'm ok with that (I like when people interpret my designs), the connecting version was what I originally had in mind.
P.S. I drew the wings really lame, shapewise; you can draw them like this
