Admittedly, the stop sign throws me a bit. Though on further reflection, it does make him seem noble.

The character's from a post-apocalyptic setting akin to Book of Eli. I figure he uses the stop sign as a walking stick / enormous bludgeon.

No, no, it does make sense, but at the same time having a Stop sign seems so out of place unless you know the context. And now that I know about that, it sorta makes sense. Plus, to carry around a sign like that, one that essentially has a sort of call of law about it, might imply a guy who's trying to do good by "stopping' evil, as it were.
