You had your maps drawn
You had other plans
To hang your hopes on
Every road they lead you down felt so wrong
So you found another way

You've got a big heart
The way you see the world
It got you this far
You might have some bruises
And a few of scars
But you know you're gonna be okay

Even though you're scared
You're stronger than you know

If you're lost out where the lights are blinding
Caught in all, the stars are hiding
That's when something wild calls you home, home
If you face the fear that keeps you frozen
Chase the sky into the ocean
That's when something wild calls you home, home

So, I set out to draw something that didn't feel intensely sorrowful, melancholy, etc. It probably has to do a lot with my head in the last year or so. It goes in streaks, and it's hard to break. You can't really see that here, because I didn't end uploading my gallery like I originally thought I would. But you can tell if you look through it. It's sort of... upsetting to have to face that realization, but also to be able to say 'yeah, accurate, and tbh I don't see that changing... I wish I knew how to change it'.

Someone suggested 'joyful Xerneas' in a thread where I was looking for Pokemon OCs to draw. While I didn't get 'joyful', I at least didn't get 'detached and sad'. I pushed myself really hard in terms of attention to shading & background detail. I'd say this is a new personal best. I don't really know how to render various textures and use my brushes but... Well, I'm pretty sure that this is one of the few things in my life that if I was able to talk to past me, and show this to them... they'd be proud of my ability to draw now, in some fashion. I can't say that about many things these days, so I will try to linger on that.

Very proud to make this my first Weasyl submission!!
